I've been working part-time at Chick-Fil-A for 2 years, and my quit date is set. I'm basically done with that place, so I've been giving up all my shifts to those who want them. Sometimes, however, they will refuse on the basis that they need a certain amount of closers to be men to do the “man” work (cleaning the lobby, mostly). The employees I'm trying to give the shifts to are trained, capable, and willing, and I'm genuinely curious as to whether they have legal grounds to do that or not?

so we are working 10 hours everyday with no day off , the manager has the audacity to tell me last minute that they need me to work 12 hours instead. i said im extremely exhausted and he said then why dont you look for another job, this doesn’t suit you. im like okay im going home now and today is my last day too.

What are thoughts on this show? Is it really the American dream to be an entrepreneur?

He's done a lot of strange and bizarre things since I've started working here. What really takes the cake and has brought out a whole different side is this new transfer from another store. (Fairly male dominant industry) Won't get detailed but she's really pretty. Cute face, nice body. She doesn't go around flirting or “asking for it” like my coworkers seem to believe… She's expressed interest in learning basics on our side of things so she could be more useful and more experienced. So the other guy started showing her how to take something apart. Boss man comes over and sees her helping and says “This isn't a porno what are you doing” then a few minutes later.. “This is Sarah y'all..'Tighten it like this Daddy? Liiiikkee thiisss? Like this Daddy?” One day we got a variety pack of doughnut holes from Dunkin Donuts. He takes a chocolate doughnut…

I work in a small town in rural US, think 3000 people tops, and that's 'larger' for the area. Corporate decided to promote someone from a few states away, more populated area, transfer in as the boss. This guy has managed to make angry all our drivers, and regularly would belittle/disrespect our employees, cut our hours for no reason, cut our snack budget(he said it was to take us out to eat instead, which never happened), and make several questionable decisions(tried to take our gloves, that was a fun one) It's been approximately 7 months or so, and I've seen amazing people, who worked at this place and did amazingly, most of which for several years, quit. I found out the longest guy here aside from me's last day was today. I've only been here a year and a half. It's amazing what being a terrible boss can do.

hi! totally new to this sub! this feels incredibly illegal to me… basically i’m the only manager scheduled at my store one day this week and i was told by other management i can’t leave the property because a keyholder has to be in the building at all times. this feels like a hostage situation tbh. i’m not allowed to leave on my lunch break or anything… what should i do?

my car broke down.. and i cant get a loan any where i have a full time job at over $15 an hour and everything is going into bills/rent so now that i have no car it looks like i will be losing my job soon. the lowest car on lots ive seen is $12k and its already over 100k miles and over 10 years old. and the lenders want nearly double the price back. which i cant do. i am my only income.. ive been priced out of existing.. now what? private sellers are a little cheaper but the cars are far more unreliable.. and you have to have the entire amount anyway.. i NEED the loan. but no one will touch me because i dont make enough

Like the title says, the last paycheck I was supposed to get from this job was supposed to be given to me on the 8th. I know my Boss at the time has poor time management skills and it seemed common checks were a day late or so. I also know she is a Christian so I figured after Easter maybe I would receive it but alas I did not. I reached out to her on the 12th, she claimed she would send it on the 13th. On Wednesday the 19th I asked her where and when she sent it as I had not received it… Friday rolls around (a full 2 week pay period later) and she says she will hand deliver it on Saturday (today) around noon… It is almost 1:30 pm today and no sign of my paycheck. I’m not sure what to even do now or…
