My friend went out on FMLA and has been out for a week and a half. She will be out for another 3 weeks as well. Before she went out she had been suffering severe depression and was unable to produce any work product- she works remote. She took retroactive leave, using up all her vacation time but doesn’t know if that covers all the time she basically wasn’t working. She explained to her boss that she was unable to get anything done. Now she gets a text from her boss asking her to submit any work she completed on a task before it is assigned to a teammate. But there’s nothing, nada, zilch. She is worried. I’m a paranoid person so I don’t know what to make of this or what she should do. Part of me thinks she should just ignore this request as she already told her…

Friends at work
It’s pretty messed up that you spend (depending on your job and hours) 40ish hours a week with people. But it can really screw you over being friends with them. I’m a friendly person, I enjoy working with my colleagues and always attend the annual Christmas party. But I always struggle with the fact I just cannot be fully friends with people I work with. There’s so many ways that friendship dramas can effect your workplace relationships or even job security. Let alone the odds of being friends with a snitch. I don’t add any of my colleagues on social media just in case anything I post comes back to me at work. But I genuinely detest that work places can be so toxic so easily that it’s just safer to not be fully friends with your colleagues. Does anyone else feel this way?
And the reason? Because I got a (sort of) cost of living adjustment last year. I just want to point out that since 2020, where I live has had an inflation increase of 18% between 2020 and now. In 2020, I was making $18/hr in the same position I am in now. An 18% increase, to keep up with inflation, would put me at $21.24. Last year I fought with management for 6 months to be increased to $20/hr. I finally got it, after 6 months of back and forth and supposed meetings I was never apart of. My productivity increased by minimum 35% due to a project I spent the entire year working countless hours of overtime. My employee review came back with a rank of 3.2/5 because I “preformed as expected”. And speaking of overtime, I have worked more days with OT than not within the last year.…
I might as well take responsibility. 1990's: College, took a fucking free internship. free work, fuck that. yea, they did help me by recommending I pay for a certain course to help my career. That certificate I got did help me get a job in the future. They also paid me one day for cleaning the fucking office because they wanted to give me a few dollars. First real paying job, 90's: Holy fuck corruption, lying, horrible environment, sales. Company went under, and I left after a few months for a “better” job that was in a nice building but they paid like $25,000 and it was the same used-car salesman type job (selling stocks). They took me off salary and I left. I drove 500 miles to the big city, started at $6 an hour. After a year I think I got to like $28,000 and then I got…
I challenge you to Outpay you !
So, my management has decided to cut peoples hours. As I’m sitting here, doing the math to see what I’ll be able to save of this check, I realize all I’ll have left for the next two weeks in my accounts as a whole after all my bills are paid: $59.16. This is excluding groceries and other necessities. Just bills. Rent, car payment, car insurance, etc. Most of my other bills are not things I can afford to skip and just pay next check. I won’t be able to even afford groceries for my or my cat. I’m in tears wondering how the hell anyone can survive or live like this. Why is it fucking okay to treat employees this way? When I see that another CEO has taken billions in “bonus” money for themselves, it makes me so irrationally angry. I have been putting in applications like crazy for…
I know not everyone on here Has much disposable income. But some in here do. And alot of us have connections and reach and skills, My question is why don't we destroy these companies that treat their employees so badly. (Short their stock, squeeze it. Make publicity nightmares etc) that is pretty much as Anti work as we can be realistically. No need for mass strikes etc, we can destroy things from the comfort of our homes. We can run places and people like this right into the ground.
I work at one of the largest package/shipping company’s in the game, but to give y’all a better understanding of the workload without spilling too many beans, I specifically work the largest warehouse location in the WORLD for this company. prior to peak season we’d work 5-6 hours a day, with a decent volume of 500-700k. during peak season our daily volume would range between 800k & 3M, still working 5-6 hours + T&AH on your 6th day & DT on your 7th (if you were chosen (but that’s another story for another day)). BUT since peak season ended they’ve cut hours and have been doing it gradually since January. we used to work 10/10:30-3:30/4, now we’re starting as late as 12/12:30 & still leaving at 3:30/4… same volumes (500-700k), but now there’s less employees cause of the shitty hours, more stress and more heat. i really hate it in…
