Started my shift later than usual at work yesterday because i had an orthodontist appointment. My orthodontist appointment and workplace are both 1 hour bus rides away . Yesterday I started at 1:20PM instead of my usual 10AM This is what my rota is usually Mondays and Fridays – 10am-6pm Tues, Wed, Thurs, – 10-5pm So yesterday I started at 1:20 and did until 6:20. I decided to stay an hour extra after my normal leaving time to earn back the hours (which is what I usually do when I miss hours due to appointments ) usually I would finish at 5 . I took a 30 minute break in those hours . So I did 1:20 – 2:20 1hour 2:20 -3:20 1hour 3:20 – 4:20 1hour 4:20 – 5:20 1hour 5:20- 6:20 1hour 5 hours yesterday . I normally do 7 hours on Tuesday . Positive Work Experiences
Every time I come on this sub it's usually negatively related job posts and I get that cause work sucks. But for a change up… I'd love to hear some stories from people who have had wonderful bosses or wonderful work environments and how we'd make those examples the standard going forward
I work at a franchise of a retail store that I'm not currently planning to leave. However there are many red flags with the franchise practices. One, when I was hired I had to sign that I wouldn't discuss my pay with others which is federally illegal, which I knew, so I wasnt afraid of signing something that couldn't be legally enforced. Another rule is that if I quit without a two weeks notice, the franchise has the right to reduce the pay for my already worked hours to minimum wage. Thats illegal, right? I've already worked those hours at an agreed upon rate, that sounds like time theft. Speaking of time theft, if for example I work on a day thats understaffed and I don't have time to take a lunch, I wont clock out because I didn't get time to take a lunch.
