My friend applied for a job and showed up for the interview. The interviewer was stuck on another ‘important task’ at the job and my friend waited about 40 minutes for the interview to start. And she still doesnt know if she got the job! Should she have left after 15 minutes? 30? How long should you wait for a rude interviewer whos late or possibly mismanaged their time?

So the advice I’ve been getting is: document everything, sue, etc but I am really not in that type of financial situation. I’m scared to risk being fired and losing my healthcare and income. I live paycheck to paycheck like most Americans. The details: I posted about some harassment I was experiencing at work a few months ago on here and people were very sympathetic. Basically, I’m vegan. I really don’t talk about it often. I’m also a teacher in the United States. Someone at my work heard that I’m vegan and started describing “shooting cows in the head”, and “killing baby animals” in a class I was sitting in on with high school students. He dug in, “I don’t give a fuck about baby cows I’ll shoot them right between the eyes.” I told him that this was an inappropriate conversation to have in a classroom of students. During…
Applied for a job to replace myself
I work at Apple as an LP specialist for a contract security company. I saw an ad on indeed for another LP job . I was hoping to maybe get it part time to supplement my barely scraping by budget. During the phone interview, the recruiter mentioned that the job was at the same shopping center that I work at already, at a tech store. They couldn't tell me exactly where but there is only one tech store there. The kicker? Pay is 4 dollars less an hour. I told my boss about it, he was completely unaware. Turns out my company subcontracted through the one I applied for, and the parent company no longer needs subcontractors. The sub company has no other contracts in the state so if I don't transfer and take the pay cut, I'll be laid off. So it looks like I'll be paid 4 less…
Frustration when applying for jobs
I don't get it. I've applied to countless part-time jobs over the past couple months. I send in the application, and I get an email back saying a recruiter or whoever will be in touch with next steps. Now if I'm no longer being considered for the position, that's one thing. But why do I always need to reach out AFTER submitting an application to see if the company has an interest in employing me? I sent in the application with all my contact information. It already feels like I'm doing the heavy lifting. Why can't they just reach out after they get the application? It turns me off from the potential of working for the companies completely, because THEY seem to already lack proper communication. Does this piss anyone else off?
I got fired today…
You guys might remember my post about my supervisor drug testing me some time ago. I should have heeded the many warnings that came from you guys and from my partner that they were out for me. I came into work like any other day. Set my laptop up at my desk, check my emails, but it was a slow morning so I had nothing to do, but the vibe was weird, soft hellos and no one asking me how the weekend was. I was sick all weekend long so I went to the bathroom for about 10-15 mins then out to the car to get my lotion (new tattoo) and my dayqul. I came back and sat at my desk. My supervisor calls me into her office. She says, “Good morning, how are you?” “A little under the weather still” I reply. “Oh no, well you're terminated from your…
Job was a scam
I was out of work due to illness for 5 years. I'm just now trying to get back into working and making a steady income, at first I was just doing so out of dogged determination. Then as I started working I realized how much I loved working with people and talking to customers. I'm still ill and I know my limits, but the job I was hired in was a huge scam, promising me a two week training paycheck of 700 dollars. I didn't receive that money ever. “Well.. its just that sales weren't what they should be…” But I worked my ass off. “Well I mean yeah but there was no evidence of that hard work in sales…” I was out in less than 24 hours. Sick of the whole thing. Now that I'm submitting applications I'm running across jobs with the same structure; first 'interview' is a…
How to send an Anonymous email?
So I work for a tech company. I work in a non-tech related field so I am not that computer literate. How do I send an anonymous email about issues in my team/company without the company finding out? I especially want to tell that little know it all John and be like “YOU'RE NOT MY SUPERVISOR!!!” What's the do's and don't? (I feel like Cheryl Tunt, I want to lite a fire and watch it burn) Thank you.
A while ago I commented on someone’s post about my boss telling me “I needed to earn my barely livable wage…” (i don’t know how to tag the original post) in case anyone remembers and is curious I found a new job, I start in a few weeks and it’s actually a job I’ve been wanting for a long time. I’m still at my current job but I’ve taken quite a bit of vacation time this month and I have a feeling when I give notice, they will walk me out (they don’t seem to be the two weeks type) so I will give only one week notice. I’ve also been slowly cleaning out my desk. This is going to be a long few weeks. I wish us all better work environments.
