Okay here's what happened to me I went to bartending school and ended up getting hired on Norwegian Cruise line ships American division as anyone in the industry knows that the cruise line industry notoriously avoids being an american-based company for a lot of legal reasons. Specifically work laws and protections. Well Hawaii has specific rules when it comes to that since they're an annexed state. And I learned later that the hiring process was done specifically out of ghettos and they were targeting people in poverty and poor areas because they knew they wouldn't have the resources to get back home after they were flown to Hawaii under deceptive terms. When I brought up issues about my job that I was hired for and the job that I was given I was basically told if I had an issue they could drop me off at the small port on…

My payrise.
National minimum wage just went up in the UK, we were originally told we would get a payrise at the start of April, then we got new owners. The new owners just left a letter and one box of chocolates in the break room. The letter reads: “Good luck with the new system today, we appreciate everyone who volunteered to get training. Enjoy the chocolates we left on the table, please take one and be mindful that there are a lot of other people who may want one too. Again, thank you for all the commitment these past few weeks – (Owners name)” So… Our payrise is a singular piece of shitty French chocolate that we’re 99% sure was an unwanted Christmas gift. We have all complained to managers and the managers have tried to warn the directors that they’re going to lose a lot of staff if they don’t…
Meanwhile, in France..

Abuses in seasonal employment
I decided to leave los angeles for a seasonal job in alaska, I found a place called chena hotsprings, bought a ticket and took a leap. I thought for free food and housing I could endure anything but underestimated the limits of how bad management could be when left in a situation absent accountability. When I arrived 6 people had quit working the front desk of the hotel in the previous month, they gave me the night audit position which I had done before in other places, typically its the “netflix” shift. In this case they expected me to do the accounting for the entire resort, 5 departments and about 100k in transactions daily 6 days per week for $14 per hour. When finished I was to organize each receipt numerically from lowest number to highest, over 1000 per night. After several hostile encounters with the front desk manager containing…
Pros Money Food A place to live (if you can afford it) Cons Long hours depending on the job, boss and or the company. Harassment or Neglect in the workplace. Hardly any raises and if your lucky its only 25 cents. Taking time off can be a hassle. Most companies want you to work nights, weekends and holidays. Lack of housing/affordable rent. A solid chunk of your pay goes to medical bills, a mortgage, rent, car payments, cell phone payments, etc. If you are a reliable employee you are likely to be called in if someone calls out of work and it's your day off. Your workload can get hectic depending on your boss, job and or the company you work for. Your work will sometimes call you during your time off. Inflation. Gas prices are still high. Lack of benefits and if any some companies want to still take…
