Hi Reddit. I’m a senior in college and currently working as a student teacher full time and preparing to graduate next month. My girlfriend got me a remote job for the summer to make money before I start my teaching career in the fall. Keep in mind that when I first spoke with “Boss”, I made it clear that school is my first priority until May and she seemed to be understanding and told me that the training for the job will be flexible. Fast forward three weeks later and I set up the computer and headset they sent me, took a drug test, and completed a TON of paperwork, and I started the first online training last night. It went ok, but they discussed a training that would be next week which would be mandatory. When I asked what would happen if you had to miss a training, I…

How to deal with this situation?
I work for a relatively small company within a small team. The team is composed of mostly Anglo Australian males (AA) and a number of non white immigrants (NW), and I am one of them. The dynamic is very us and them but the specific examples of behavior I need advice on are as follows: In common areas, like the lunch room, when I walk in, the talking stops, blank stares, dead silence and nobody says hi or hello. As I leave the room they will resume talking. Same thing happens in other areas such as smoking area. There are indirect comments on race “I prefer to work with white people”, “I'm not racist my dog is black” , rate of immigration “Its getting too brown in here”, racial stereotypes, use of accents and jokes at the expense of NW people. Tone of voice changes when speaking with non native…
I work in health care, outpatient setting. We recently signed up for our vacation for this year and until March 2024. I was only approved 1 day and 2 half days( AM only, meaning I have to go back to finish PM shift). My manager said, only 1 nursing position at a time. Meaning 2 RN or 2 LVN cannot be off. We do have a union. Is this even right???
My work has called me 2 times I declined call both times what do I do I got my managers permission for time off so I don't know what to do
This system is so fucked
How can a 32(M) who has 5 years of teaching experience, 10 years of sales experience, a bachelors, a masters, several certifications and a comprehensive work history not find a suitable job? Seriously though, I'm having to start all over because teaching f**ked me. If you are wanting to become an educator in this country in any aspect, DON'T! Our economy does not cater to it and you are literally ALWAYS on the bottom of the sh*t totem pole. Have a job? Well, consider it temporary, especially in Nebraska which by definition is a “Employment at Will” state. Like what in the actual F**k is that?? So I have a job for 6 months and as soon as you use me for all the work I have done for your company, you just lay me off? It's been like this for three jobs in a row now and at this…
I have my own business and had some things stolen off a work site. It happened in less than 30 seconds. All on camera. It was 2 homeless people and I've had a lot happen over the last few. A lot. It made me hit my breaking point. I'll never give any US local, state, or federal government a dime of my income. I'm done. No taxation without representation and no one represents the people of this country. The social decay has gotten beyond our control. The US government must go. It must be overthrown. It has no purpose except to act as a leach of society's earners. Every program is a fraud. Every bit of money goes to the corrupt. They're taking all of our money. It's not just the money. It's what the money represents. All our work…for nothing. I burn the US flag now. Burn it. It…
Cut Shift Stress
I work in a part-time, hourly position, at a business and I want to know if this policy is allowed… They have “cut shifts” where you may or may not have to come in. For example. Employee A is scheduled 4-9:30, B is scheduled 4:30-9:30. B must be ready to come in at 4:30, but may get a call at 4:25 (or no call at all) and be told not to come depending on how busy the business is. They may also have to come in at 4:30, but told to leave early. This is an issue for me as someone who lives out of town because by the time they call, I’m almost there. It is so frustrating to be dressed and ready to turn right back around. Im taking the time to get into dress code, drive there, and show up only to be told to go home.…
