Company cut my assignment short
I worked at this company through a staffing agency. I worked as a medical assembler in one area that I spent 7 weeks at. I could tell at a certain point that they weren't going to let me continue and “certify”, or pass me on the machine I was already at, so I started submitted applications to different places hoping I'd hear back from someone for a different job. I knew how to do the machine job, and like any other newbie, produced some scrap, the last time I was at the machine my scrap count was 2 so I knew I was getting much better. Well, Friday I hear back from 1 company on a contingent offer and I accepted. I get a call from my staffing agency Friday night and they tell me not to show up for work today (Monday) because the client didn't want me back??…
My husband just found out that his company is stealing from the employees-finding out by 30 minutes missing off his time card for the day. Apparently they are either upping or lowering in 15 minute increments from when they clock in/out. Is this illegal?
Must CA Lunch Breaks be Uninterrupted?
Company I work for gives us a 30 minute unpaid meal break when working 5 hours or more. We work in construction, and our superintendents have told us we are not allowed to eat in the building, so we’re forced to go to our cars for lunch. Some of us must park further than others, because we all do not get the privilege of parking on the premises. Our lunch is at 10:30am, but it’s usually a 3-6 minute walk to our car so we lose that time. Also, they expect us back to work at 11am on the dot, so we must leave our cars 3-6 minutes early, losing anywhere between 6-12 minutes off our lunch. My question is, should lunch breaks be uninterrupted? Our time is lost going to our cars and back, but that’s because we are told eating isn’t allowed in the building, and we do…
Was let go by my boss today.
Hi I am a freelancer and I was let go today. My boss did not tell what happened, the past few days he didn't talk to me via emails so I just work and work with the tasks given to me everyday. Tbh I don't know what to feel, should I ask why? Cause Im pretty sure I did all my tasks and complete them everyday. I wws leaning in just thanking him for the opportunity and all cause at the end of the day even if I ask, will asking why still matters? I will still be unemployed lol haha (Im laughing but deep inside Im sad) Any freelancers or employees here who experienced this kind of thing? I wanna know if this is normal and what could be the cause of this?
Idk if this is the right place to ask but it’s been bothering me and I just really have to try Something. When I started working at this hotel/resort/vacation rental/few restaurant/greedy ass place, I was simply tasked with cleaning the public restrooms on property. Maybe some entryways and common areas. Slow, easy, and honestly all the slow seasons kept guests away so I barely needed to do anything. When I was trained by the male and female who were in the process of quitting this job, they warned me about rude guests barging into the multi stall bathrooms that can’t be locked. (They also warned me no one would give a shit about my job and boy were they right. For example: I would ask for soap to be restocked because everything was empty and it took them 4 months to replace soap. Literally dunno how guests were cleaning their…
To preface, I work at a tribal casino in the US so we only operate under federal laws and regulations. I have reached out to the DOL about it but have gotten a basic response telling me to check with the state, which doesn’t help because again, we don’t operate under state laws. My employer has recently decided that he no longer wants to print off our schedules for us and has told us that we need to download an app on our personal devices. There is no other way to view our schedules except from the app. I’ve seen SO MANY posts on here about how they can’t force you to download things on personal devices, but I’m having issues finding anything to back that up online.
So, I've been doing the work from home life for about 3 years now. Some jobs were okay, some were just terrible. This new one I have has been pretty decent so far, pay is okay. Here's the issue. I had an internet outage twice. One was when I was in training for 2 days, and this recent one was for a whole week. The last outage was county wide, and it affected everyone. APPARENTLY, the company is saying that those days won't be excused even when I provided all the documentation to prove the outage. My first supervisor completely understood the situation, but my new supervisor is saying this now. I tried to explain what happened. But nothing. Idk what to do. I'm the only income in my house and this is the highest paying job in the area. Any tips/ideas?
