My sixteen year old confidently announced that his generation invented something new: Polyworking.

This is like that meme about having a “family” phone that is always in the house that everyone can use. But hey, it beats “quiet quitting”. I'll take it. I have my own phrase I invented. And by invented I mean stole, probably from New Yorkers: Fuck you, Pay me. Anyway, I asked him if this just having multiple jobs or having two jobs at the same time during the same hours? He said it doesn't matter. The economy is shit. My son is ready. Adulting shall be upon him soon.

Why do jobs offer barley above minimum wage for a full time job and ask you to have reliable transportation, instead of having a location on a transit line? How can someone afford cost of living + car and car expenses on $15 per hour? Or request schedule flexibility for PT jobs?

Does anyone know where people are talking about activism, over recent issues in the US?

I'm talking about 2 things: First, increasing restrictions on life saving medications and procedures for pregnant people- including in cases with nonviable pregnancies and miscarriages. Second, the wanton and easily preventable deaths of so many children from gun violence. Though workers' issues do tie into this, via quality of life and health- not to mention access to healthcare, the completely erratic policies are causing needless deaths. The US is starting to look like a country that emphasizes dead people as its main product. So does anyone know where I can find people talking about doing something?

You job doesn’t determine your value.

I know there are those of you who need to hear this today: You are valuable and worthwhile, in spite of your employment status. Don't let Corporate America tell you otherwise.

Broke mom looking to get creative

Hi guys. Hope youre all doing well out there. First time posting here but I'm needing to get creative. I have a stable job that I work hard at, pick up extra shifts, etc and I usually do ok, but this month was very rough financially w/one thing after another and so I decided screw it, I'm gonna start selling pics of myself (not necessarily completely nude) and offering adult video chats or at least texts to earn some much needed extra money. If any of you are interested, please feel free to DM me! i'm charging very reasonable rates. I'm new to this and not quite comfortable joining only fans or sites like that yet. I've come so far in life, i went from being unemployed staying with friends unable to work bc of my ptsd and depression, to having a good stable house, steady job, almost 5 years…

Lewis Powell- the creator of the blueprint for the Post-1970s attack on workers.

I mentioned this in a comment on a previous post, but it might be interesting for everyone. Lewis Powell wrote what became the blueprint for the business class dismantling of the New Deal and post-WW2 era social supports and efforts to make the USA a better place to live for everyone. Barry Goldwater can be credited with sowing seeds, but Powell, before he became a Supreme Court Justice, wrote the playbook:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lewis_F._Powell_Jr.#Powell_Memorandum,_1971 A lot of people like to blame the government, but government is what we make of it. I think the private sector and its political power is to blame. Edit: looks like someone posted about Powell a few months ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/zmntxh/the_powell_memo_corporate_americas_blueprint/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

How to approach

So I have a meeting with my boss and my team coming up about a question we proposed. Little background… First my job is partly hands on, during covid we switched to an every other day to keep the amount of people working together to a very small group. The days we were at home we did what we could and if something needed to be completed we asked those in the office to help. Turn around time on projects remained the same. As covid eased, we were brought back 4 days a week with one day at home. Other departments were still one week in, one week at home. They then by the fall brought as us back to everyday, yet other departments still were one week on and off. We kept being told by management that by the new year everyone would be back in the office. So…

My current position is posted on Indeed

I spend most of my day scheduling and once in a while I’ll have to check the general email that my boss and I both use if I need to receive extra paperwork from clients. I go and check it today, and people are applying for my job. I go on indeed and low and behold, my job is posted. My boss has not said anything about this. Whether or not I’m getting an assistant myself (I’m in a management position and could use a hand), if I’m getting canned, or getting promoted? I’m confused why she wouldn’t have discussed this with me before posting the job. I’m kind of planning on confronting her tomorrow, but part of me also wants to wait for her to admit it, and another part of me wants to send her my resume for the position wish me luck that I still have a…
