Difficult to get compensations for mental health issues triggered at work with disability insurance

I recently took some time off due to mental health issues, which were triggered by both personal life (heartbroken breakup) and toxic work environments (long working hours for months and intolerable office politics). I filed the claim for short-term disability trying to get some compensations. Otherwise, I would lose income when I am on leave.. Also, therapy costs and living expense are extremely expensive in NYC, and I really need the compensations to cover part of them. However, I just got a call from my disability insurance company, and according to them it is very possible that my claim would be denied since in the medical records provided by my therapist, my mental health issues were work-related, so it won't get covered…. So they suggested me to apply for the worker compensations instead. However, based on what I read online, it is almost impossible to get paid through the worker…

Minimum wage shorted on paycheck

Minimum wage in my county is $17.06 an hour starting January 1, 2023. But last pay period it was only $16 an hour on my paystub and my co workers. The business owner was made aware of this and said it was an error but he hasn't corrected it and it has been over a week since we were paid. When should I bring this up again? Should I wait another pay period? Not sure how to address this and get it corrected.

Getting fed up

Was out of work for 2 months on company medical leave and just had a performance review and it was held against me for missing hours and didnt count overtime hours. Not to mention it was my 1st review in 2 years and was supposed to be getting one every 6 months and and its in my file that my manager went over them with me but im not a lawyer so dont even know if thats legal. Spoke to my rep and they act like its nothing new. So falsifying employee records is ok then?

my once easy awesome job is now a nightmare

I had the greatest work at home job. I had total freedom and worked maybe 4 hours per day. No one cared as long as all of the work was taken care of. Well now there's new management and we're going to have all of our activities monitored. If it doesn't look like we're constantly working, we'll be chastised and maybe eventually fired. So even if there's nothing to do I still have to be “working” until a certain set time and then clock out so I'll have to sit there clicking random screens and sections of the program we use in order to show evidence of that. A mouse jiggler isn't enough to prove anything because they are monitoring exactly what we are looking at and opening. If we take any break, we are expected to clock out and clock back in, so if I do that is just…

Everyone knows my coworker is a problem but they’re still around??

So I started a new job and it’s the first time I’ve had to deal with an…unpleasant coworker. They’ve been in my office longer than I’ve been alive and are in a senior public facing position. They’ve been rubbing me the wrong way for months and I’ve been hard on myself because I thought I was just being too sensitive. Well, turns out, they’ve been investigated by HR several times for creating a hostile work environment. They obviously haven’t been fired for it and I feel like I’m the newest target. Obviously I’m the low man on the totem pole and I don’t want to cause any problems, but what the hell do I do? It’s all been relatively minor passive aggressive behaviors that I don’t feel like I could complain about but now that I know it’s a pattern it feels obvious they’re trying to make my life difficult.…

I was just casually searching for remote positions, and one that showed up wasn’t actually remote…WTF?

The position said remote in the title and work from home at the top, but it was an on-site job. So, I reported it, and the next two positions I looked at did the same thing! I know they’re trying to lure candidates in, but seriously, do they really think that their $10.50/hour position is going to make me forget that I was looking for REMOTE!?

Just got fired. What do.

So I was just informed today that I am no longer employed. Aside from just typical job hunting and applying for unemployment, what sort of recommendations do you all have?

Work Posture

I received my yearly evaluation and my supervisor gave me a low evaluation because she felt that I was not “sitting up straight,” which therefore, according to her, is unprofessional appearance. She also gave me low evaluation because I had a personal item on the desk which was a deodorant. My team members have much more personal items on their desks and visible PHI. But she never mentioned anything to them. Can a supervisor tell you how to sit at work? My industry is human services.

My company has been paying me overtime even though I don’t put in any overtime

Each check I have been paid it says I have been getting 4-5 hours of over time over each two week period. I work standard 40 hour week with two paid 15 minute breaks and unpaid 30 minute lunch everyday. I clock in and out on my work computer for lunch but understood I didn't have to for 15 minute breaks because they are paid for. There is an option to clock in and out for the 15s but I just haven't and I think that is where the overtime is coming from. Welp… hope they don't find out.
