Sick of it.

Just a small rant. I’m sure loads of you feel this way too. I’ve been working food/retail since I was 16 years old and I’m now 22. I’m just so sick of work. I don’t want to do it anymore. I understand it may sound lazy, but life is so much more than this. Ever since I was little I didn’t think of working a mundane job for the rest of my life. This reality of work is so dull and this is the only life we get to live. I like working towards something fulfilling and any job I’m forced to have to be at for 40+ hours a week will never feel fulfilling to me…

applying fir jobs when disabled

*for hi! i’m a disabled young adult (mid-20s). among autism, chronic pain, and a connective tissue disorder, and a few other comorbidities— i’m also immunocompromised. i worked in person for a bit after covid started, but i also got sick a lot and when i got covid it was really hard on my body and mind and i’m honestly scared to get it again bc who knows what could happen each time i do. i definitely have some longterm effects. and i left my last job in a bakery because my pain got worse and i kept dislocating my joints at work because it was strenuous. i have my bachelor’s degree and a lot of work experience. i’ve been working for about a decade now. i’m trying very hard to find remote work. i’ve been applying to so many jobs. the other day i applied to almost 15 jobs and…

Steps Toward Antiwork

Antiwork- the act of ending work/living a work-free life. I’m curious what tangible steps you guys are taking to achieve this. Most of what I see here is complaining about the government, employers, inflation, capitalism, etc. What actual things are you doing to get closer to the actual definition of Antiwork? What’re you doing today that is a etting you up in the future to not have to rely on work as much/at all?

All for control and fear…

I don't know if this topic has been expressed….but does anyone have an idea if companies are really laying off because of recession or doing so because they see a mass amount of companies do it so they follow. Seems like they used this as a way to wave power and control to gain an upper hand back at the employees….thoughts…I could be completely wrong but would love more insight.

Had permanent WFH for over a year; being forced back into the office now & am at breaking point

(Sincerest apologies for the length of this post; I've been following this comm for a while now and recent upsetting developments in my own job are finally driving me to post) I started a wonderful job end of 2021 (full benefits for the first time ever in my life, finally being paid something like what I actually deserve for all of my skills/experience, and so on) and at the time of my hiring I was told that the position was permanently remote – not just 'temporarily remote', e.g. for Covid reasons, but permanently remote outright – that's what I was told, and was promised in writing (over Teams & in email). I was simply ecstatic about it, since I'd never been fortunate enough to have anything like that….and ever since then it's been simply amazing, and so incredibly good for my peace of mind and sanity….I've been comfortable and happy,…

“youre just gonna have to take whatever you can and work your way up” no.

tired of hearing this from retired chodes who bought their house for a dollar and a snickers bar back in the 80s. I'm not gonna take “whatever i can” and not be given the opportunity to work up. ive just turned 20 and have been unemployed for a full year now by taking their advice. working dogshit minimum wage jobs that drained me mentally, being laid off from the last one with no real notice, and now I dont have the energy to do it all over again. I wonder how fast it'd take them to crumple if they took their own advice and lived in our shoes for a minute. Go work that minimum wage retail job and see how long it takes you to “work your way up” to afford even half of the rent here in Washington. genuinely what is the point of working now? I…
