I am a professional educator. I have a family of four kids and an amazing wife. It is cheaper for her to stay home, so I am the sole income of the household. The first problem is that my Master's Degree required job is not enough money to live in this economy. I can't buy a house, so 40% of my check goes to rent. The second problem, though, is what prompted this post. I went to interview for a night stocking job at a local grocery store. In the application it asked what pay I wanted. I put $15/hr. Working part time with that pay would allow my family to get by and have a little bit extra. I get to the interview. The guy is nice. He talks like we are friends and makes a few jokes. Well the end of the interview comes, and he asks, “Do…

I had a very bitter falling out where I used to work last year (now make $22,000 more a year and I’m in much better conditions) but how can I get my W-2? Time is almost up. I do not believe I can call them now anyways because they likely sent it to a wrong address (I’ve moved 6 times in the last year) so they would absolutely just say they sent it already and good luck out of spite. How can I go about getting my W-2 now?
Higher education protest
What if enough college students in the US held out on enrolling for next the semester of college to collapse the entire system, unless they lower tuition, raise the quality of this bullshit education, and hire and pay their employees fairly?
I'm looking for something with better work/life balance that pays enough to survive on, but indeed just isn't showing anything good. It seems like everyone that has a good job got it by knowing someone that already works there. Am I wrong? Anyone have job hunting advice?
I am a 15 year old high schooler who gets payed minimum wage to work as an assistant at an afterschool camp in my town. Anyways about two weeks ago one of the young kids comes to camp with a dry cough, a headache, and a stomach ache. I ask said kid if she is sick and she says no. The whole time she is lagging behind the rest of the group and having constant coughing fits. About two days later I start to feel sick and decide to take a COVID test. Big surprise, I test positive. Because of this I am now forced to miss a spring break trip that I have been looking forward to for five or six months. So please for the love of god please do not send your kid, who you know is sick to any form of childcare unless absolutely necessary. (I…
Job hunting misery
Maybe it's because it's currently 1am and I can't sleep because of my chronic illness. Maybe it's because I know I have to get up tomorrow to go to a job I hate, with a toxic, unsympathetic boss (who doesn't believe in my disability) to fight them for basic accommodations to my disability, which they have been stalling constantly. Maybe it's because I know I physically can't do my job anymore because the pain is killing me and yet there's no alternative because the job market is in the gutter. I have edited my CV half a dozen times. I use ChatGPT to write my cover letters. I have applied to 100s of jobs and have met with only a handful of employers. Interviews either seem to go well, then I get rejected for lack of experience or interviewers dig and dig as if they are trying to find a…
