For 13 years I’ve been a middle manger at a company. I’ve seen that company grow from 60 to 130 employees, and is still growing. In this time I’ve expanded my education, completed certifications and taken on roles not really linked to my job. I worked closely with the old site manager and learned a lot about the business thinking when he retired I’d be considered. Only when he retired for the owners to hire someone with little to no knowledge of the site. Come to find out this guy comes from some money and has political connections in an area the company serves. So again don’t fall into the same trap I did. No matter how hard you work, study or go the extra mile they already have next level promotion picked out and it likely isn’t you. Just quiet quit, don’t go above and beyond. Do what you…
i resigned 6 months prior. long story short, super toxic environment and they were violating the law. yeaaaaaah, accepting the password reset code….this seems like someone else's problem. *shrug*
Opinions on this please ?!!!
So a work email got sent out today to all staff bearing in mind there’s only about six of us and we have all had to get other jobs due to the fact that they can’t give us any hours and have treated us poorly as staff members we all got this email today and this is the worst part of it my boss seem to think it was appropriate to make a list of reasons in this email why we may be down on stark and seem to think it was appropriate to potentially accuse his members of staff of stealing bulk items before they’ve even entered the premises . I’m so so p**d off and think it’s insulting that he would even think it’s ok to even say this. If you don’t trust your staff or think they would do that. Get rid of them . What an…
Most of the labor discourse I see in Reddit threads is around higher wages. While it's true that certain sectors are woefully under paid, and require across the board increases (service, nursing, teaching, etc)… I would argue that for most workers the tail that's wagging the dog here are simple costs and in tandem with those costs, work related freedoms. I don't think it's possible for people on what would be considered a middle class wage to 'do everything right' and set themselves and/or their family up for success anymore. You really can't build wealth, save for retirement, cover health emergencies, contribute to a college fund, save for even reasonable used cars (etc), no matter how much coffee you make at home. The truth of the matter is we are most of us, one health emergency away from bankruptcy, even with insurance. Certain consumer goods are really cheap now which…
Tools to Work Remote but Can’t
I just need to vent. I work at a place that day one I they gave me the tools to work remote. Day shift is the only shift who has to come to the office. On holidays day shift can work from home. I'm on a day shift and a contractor. But …… If you get sick you have to take a sick day. You can't opt in to remote from home. So instead they are okay that someone comes in and gets everyone sick. I get caught up in that and also get sick. My contract doesn't have sick days, and I get denied to work from home. They state policy is sick days for sickness no remote work. Okay guess I go into the office and continue the spread My SO gets a minor medical issue that she might have to go into the ER. My benefits didn't…
