In order to gain a real interview from a national grocery chain, I was required to perform a video interview with HireVue, an online, AI assessment tool. To prepare, I was directed to wear a suit with no tie, headphones were prohibited, volume at a decent level with no external mic plugged in and they said I should be in a well lit, quiet area. The system asked me 5 questions and I had a minute to read each one and ready myself mentally before answering in 3 minutes or less. The system does not allow you to delete your recording and make additional attempts. When answering questions, I was instructed to use the Situation, Task, Action and Result method, while maintaining eye contact with the camera, and speaking as if I was actually talking with a human being. The system recognizes the specific words you speak, how you say…
Category: Antiwork
So to give some context, I don't work the most luxurious job, I do pizza delivery which is enough to get me by while I'm working on my own business, helping my partner with her business and it gives me enough time to spend with my kids. But obviously this isn't what this is about. Back in the beginning of April I ended up finding out a friend of mine unalived himself which, after given substantial information, it is believed that he didn't even mean to. During that time frame I was working for a local company Tuesday Wednesday thrusday 11am to 9pm doing deliveries for them. I reconnected with My buddy's gf(which makes this even worse because I haven't actually spoken to him or her since November because there was this huge fight and both parties refused to talked to eachother) and while in a state of shock and…
Legit workaround or devious fuck over
The last company I worked for did some questionable things and some flat out illegal things when it came to how they treated their employees. Working thru lunch cus the concrete truck was there happened way more than it should have and got to the point they were planning on it because there would be little ceasers pizza somewhere for us to scarf down when we could. My question is on an 8 hr shift if we break for lunch after 4 hrs does that cover all the ohsa requirements? Only getting a lunch break was a daily thing, and sometimes when I had to drive to another jobsite or gas station to use the bathroom I would get my pay docked because of it. Not sure if it matters but I work in KY where they are actively trying to repeal the laws that guarantee workers lunch breaks among…
I applied for a position as a candidate attorney at a law firm a few years ago. Initially my application was rejected, however I got a call the next next week asking me to come in on the next day (they phoned me on a Sunday). I got there and met with who would have been my boss (let's call him John). John's uncle is one of the directors of the firm (John got the job because of nepotism). I met with the person who I would replace and she started showing me the ropes (let's call her Anna). After a few hours Anna said something along the lines of the following to me: “Listen, I cannot let you work here in good conscience. You need to leave right now and never look back. This place has held me captive for almost 5 years.” Accordingly to the laws of my…
Lonely little life
Work vent lol lonely I just started a new job recently and it us very demanding because of coperate. Which in returns makes our managers mean or stressed etc. We are suppose to meet a daily quota ,but personally I find it hard to care when I make minimum wage. There are way too many rules and the task need to be timed. The guy at work had a crush on me ,but I don't care to date right now and I only date to get married these days. I am trying to keep this job long term . It just frustrating because my manager is younger then me and will freeze and text in the middle of store with customers around lol. I guess I just find it very hard to be okay at work and be Friendly when IRL life stinks n dealing with my toxic negative mom…
Manager is stalking me on camera
Just figured out manager is basically watching my computer screens at all times and watches the cameras basically all day. Called him out, said jokingly “Can you stop watching us on camera it's creepy”, answer I got back was “Well I find you kind of creepy”. He obviously chuckled and said it as a joke. But I knew then and there the truth. Is this really what we've come to? Managers power tripping? Managers literally stalking their employees and watching their every move? I feel legit violated, yet it's not illegal at all in az. But, fuck that guy. All I can do is move on. But goddamit. Why did capitalism create these kind of situations.
They told me no notice is unprofessional
Like the title states, they stated “quitting without notice was unprofessional” after I had been repeatedly disrespected, cussed out, undermined, not supported, etc. meanwhile their own policy states they won’t tolerate that kind of behavior yet they did nothing about it. So what else is there to do besides respectfully and professionally show them how they lied on their own behalf with their make believe policy’s that only apply to them if needed and that I am a man of my word and am more professional than they ever could be. “It’s not our problem until it’s our problem.” Guess what, it’s your problem now isn’t it? They had notice of what I was gonna do before I did it. I did tell them every time I was not putting up with peoples poor behavior and that once fed up with it I don’t give notice. Delusional these people are.…
We love a personal rejection letter
Second slide is the response I’m considering sending
I just started a new job. It is contract for 6 months and then they hire you full time if things go well. They send you an “official offer” at three months. My assumption was that this would include what the pay and benefits were. There are two contractors that go full time time next month and they still haven’t told them what their pay is going to be. I am very concerned about this and don’t know if this is normal for a company to do or not???
