I have a suspicion my current employer won’t have work available after finishing up my current project. Never been on unemployment before. So want to ensure I don’t do something that could potentially effect my ability to claim benefits. Could be worth noting I’m based in NJ and my employer is based in Chicago. Not sure if that matters.

F-ck 60+ retirement age
I have been job hunting for a couple months and for a fully remote technical sales position in the US and Canada. This is the first time I have looked for a job outside of my city/province (I live in Canada). What really annoys….actually pisses me off and doesn't make sense is why companies have higher or lower salary ranges for different cities, so why? Salary should be based on role specific criteria, not geographical location. This question applies more to tech/remote jobs. I understand the cost of living is significantly different depending on where you live (also this has changed a lot as my city is now on par with Toronto for living costs since Covid), but why should someone in New York or these bigger cities be paid more than me for doing the exact same work.
I receive cash tips in large sums from wedding parties. And they’re addressed to me. My manager has now decided I’m not allowed to keep them without verifying. And by that, she’s been taking my tips and distributing them amongst people who aren’t there or helped. My $150 tip addressed to me became $30. Is this legal in California?
