US is an awful place to be poor. Education is expensive, working rights aren’t that great, mass shootings are too frequent, some minorities live very bad etc. Civil rights warriors have been trying to change this for quite some time but it doesn’t seem to be getting any better. Why then don’t we see American citizens trying to emigrate to other countries and see what happens? It definitely won’t solve everything and maybe it gets worse in some specific aspects, but maybe the time has come to pack and leave.

I work for a company that owns about 12 offices. Each office has a monthly budget. Early this month our regional manager told us she ordered some supplies through our budget for another office and used up just about all the budget for the month. She gave no explanation as to why she did this We have been asking higher ups to rectify the budget so we can make orders and they keep blowing us off. It all seems suspicious. Any insight as to why a regional manager/company would do this??
Hey all! So basically, I was diagnosed with migraines and I got a medical note stating that if one occurs I may need to leave work. Now my boss is asking I provide another note stating that I’m able to work alone (I work at a cafe, most times I’m alone at cash) and I’m a little annoyed as a doctors note is $50 per note and I feel like I don’t need to provide a note to state I can do my job. I feel like the first note stating that if one occurs and I need to leave, I can should be enough because clearly that’s the only accommodation I need. If I couldn’t work alone my doctor would have wrote that. I’ve had the same doctor for years and she knows I work alone most of the time. Any advise?
So I'm in the UK, senior management role and in the process of changing jobs. My contractual notice period is 3 months. I get that we have better protections in the UK around employment but 3 months is brutal. One of the reasons I'm leaving is burnout and having to resist the urge to completely check out for 3 months is nigh on impossible, not to mention the constant check ins with directors so the boss can size up the perfect moment to try to brow beat me in to staying. They are out of luck this time (moving to a way higher salary, less pressure job) but still i know it's coming. They are already threatening to withhold my bonus. I get it's discretionary but what better way to demotivate somebody who still has a lot of work to deliver for you than by withholding the bonus they earned…
