The WiFi has gone out at the call centre I work at and they are making us stay and train with the new starters? Since I started about a month and a half ago they said that we aren't trained enough to work from home and so we are sitting in on training with some new starters. Feels like I shouldn't have to be here if they can't provide working conditions (UK based)
I came across this article and it triggered memories of going through a literal 8-step(!!) application process with a company that then ignored me for months before letting me know I wasn't chosen. I think it's ridiculous that companies do this and I wanted to know if anyone else has any stories like this? At your current job, did your company follow these tips, or was the money so good you just put up with the process: https://brightmatterhr.com/knowledge-centre/blogs/this-is-why-your-hiring-process-is-turning-candidates-away/
Quitting without receiving money in 401k
I’ve been working at a place for a few years and with about 10k in my 401k. Don’t I at least get a percentage of what was in there? I’m being told that I need to put in a minimum of 10 years at this company to even get a percentage of it, and I won’t receive the full amount unless I do 30 years (I work at a jail). Every other place I’ve been at I’m pretty sure they give it to you when you leave regardless of time on the job.
Ok… But what about the other 50%? Remote workers weren't even close to the majority of all cash buyers over asking price. Not a word in this article about hedge funds or corporations buying single family homes. Yet another example of sleight of hand to blame workers and not corporations.
I've been paying $100/paycheck for insurance I can't use because my employer hasn't sent in the insurance cards. It's not just me as well, I've asked my coworkers and they said they haven't gotten theirs yet either. My manager said “corporate is working on it” and not much else. It's getting frustrating because I've been really needing to see an optometrist and probably a GP as well. I know that I have the coverage because when I went to pick up a prescription at CVS they said I had insurance, but as far as I know I can't see an actually doctor without an insurance card. Is there anything I can do?
Employer docked 3.5 hours from my time sheet without reason or notice I work an hourly job, I ended this last week with 39.80 hours but had clocked out 30min late on accident one day so I asked my manager to adjust the day to reflect the true hours. I went to check my time sheet today and it said 36.30 hours. Each day he edited my clock out to be 30-45 minutes before I had actually clocked out. I never took an un-paid 30 minute break and I worked all the hours that were on my time sheet yet he docked me for my breaks. Something he has never done in the past 6 months. Do I have a legal standing here? Should I confront my boss? I’m completely flabbergasted.
