Hello, Help me understand why this is legal and how I can maybe leverage this. I’ve been in a position for ~10 months. I have an annual review tomorrow. I’ve evidently been killing it per my leadership for the short amount of time that I’ve been here. I train new hires, and I am in the proceed of joining a committee that will benefit my entire team by creating resources they will use on the daily. My pay range has been -7.87% compared to the base range pay. So, I’ve been getting undercut -7.87% from what the MINIMUM offers for a person in my position at my company for the past 8 months. This is broadcasted to us individually. Compared to other organizations, I would need to obtain a ~13-20% raise to compete with the MINIMUM of other locations for an equivalent position… you may ask wtf am I doing,…

You’ve seen some shit. Tell us about it.
Let's talk about safety, specifically management not caring about the safety of the workers. Your bones and blood have a dollar value. What have you done (bonus points: refused to do) that defied bodily injury so someone else could make a few $?
“No grandpa. STFU. Your generation not only ruined our future generation lives by inflating prices and not increasing wages, but also introduced toxic work culture.” My grandfather told me our generation is entitled and complain like a bitch. Apparently, quitting because of toxic bosses and toxic work culture aren't valid reasons. Says the man who bought 2 houses for a lesser salary than mine. “Bosses have the right to do what they do. And you can't say shit about that because THEY pay you. Do what you are told to do and shut up. I myself worked unpaid overtime and my boss said I did a good job. You should do the same and also never argue with your boss about your salary.” At that point this convo wasn't worth my time. Are all oldies this delusional FFS?
And I thought that I was done with depression for good last year. Long story short, I am in my 2nd year working for this company. I started thinking about leaving end of last year because people in our team kept quitting and management did nothing about it. I persisted, and finally what's left of the team got merged with a new team. Some work got reshuffled to lighten our load. Despite this, I still feel sick of work. Maybe I'm severely burnt out. One hour into the workday and I'd feel like I have worked 10 hours non-stop. I tried getting enough sleep but everything's still too much for me. I sit in front of the computer and all I want to do is cry. I'm absolutely not interested in anything I do (both because I'm really not interested + mental fatigue) I want to follow my ex-colleagues footsteps…
Pre-Paying for Overtime
My boss has been on my back quite a bit about overtime recently and has been making comments insinuating that they might reduce my hours if I keep getting overtime. They’ve mentioned it several times. All this over maybe 15 minutes overtime every week. If that. Not to mention we’re two people short so more is being required of me, and it’s a miracle I’m able to finish with only that small amount of overtime as is. I did the math, and the total they would be paying me for overtime in the span of a year is a little less than $400, if my current pay and average amount of overtime continues. Part of me thinks it would be hilarious to walk into their office and set a check down for that amount so they can stop bitching at me about it every week and I can get my…

Lied to about wage in job interview?
I just started working at a certain coffee place in a certain grocery store chain (not Target). After the phone screening and during the interview, I was told that my pay would be $16/hr + tips. I learned halfway through my first shift that we are actually not in fact allowed to accept tips as we are technically grocery chain employees and not coffee chain employees. It ‘wouldn’t be fair’ to the non-coffee place workers for us to receive tips, which sounds like a can of worms in itself. My interviewer denies having said such a thing but I am 95% confident they did (possibly my phone screener?) as obviously, pay is incredibly important to me and I have evidence of texting a friend about it immediately after getting out. I don’t have much qualifications other than the ones that got me this job, and I’m not sure that I…
Just accepted at job where I was told by the manager AND HR that I'd make a set hourly wage of $30 (AUD), about 20 US dollars. It was by far the best deal I'd been offered so I turned down 4 other job offers I'd been given, only to arrive on my second day at the job to be told that I'd actually be getting 10 dollars less that I'd been told. i signed a contact saying 30, now they want me to resign for less or theyll just kick me. why isn't this illegal?? I had other offers closer to home AND with better pay. I want to tear my hair out im literally back to square one lmao
I won't say where I work in the interest of job security (long story short is that the company I work for has given me reason to believe that if this is traced to me that I will lose my job and I cannot afford that) but I have a bit of story here to tell, and I'm curious if my active suspicion are misplaced or not. So, about a week ago, I had to use the restroom. Where I work (I will say it is a truck stop setting) we have an hourly check on our restrooms. My need to use the restroom coincided with one of those checks, so I hopped on our radios and asked if I could go use the restroom and while I was up there I would take care of said check. Was told no, and no attempt was made to come cover my…
