We’re a local business, which was her excuse. But seriously?? That money is probably very little to her, but it’s a lot to me — I’m a student who lives alone. Also, it’s not my fault she no longer has extra duties for me to do. She clarified that she thinks I’m amazing, as well. So I’m not taking a pay decrease for cause. Anyways, people are greedy and I needed a place to vent. Also our business is definitely a front for money laundering so it’s not like she can’t come up with the cash.
This is horrifying. What the fuck.
The combined salaries and benefits of the people they laid off was probably around 20m. That's .4% of last years profits. Motherfuckers threw a bunch of people out in the cold in order to boost the bottom line by .4%. Fuck billionaires.
SHL Needs to Die
If you've applied for a job in the past several years you might have encountered SHL and their oh so wonderful online job assessment. The company, owned by a U.K. private equity firm, provides job assessment tests that will give you a headache, and make you feel like an utter idiot. SHL seems to be the main job assessment employers, big and small, private and corporate, rely on for their hiring needs. In other words, it's H.R. being lazy and relying on a computer program to do their job. Most upsetting is many government jobs are now using SHL to screen prospective employees. I don't think most people here have a problem taking a job assessment for positions that require certain skills, especially highly specialized skills, or employers simply needing to make sure you know that “2 plus 2 equals 4.” The problem is the SHL assessment test asks unnecessary…
These people screwed me for nothing
I worked for a small office in a small town. It was a Big Insurance company and things were pretty good for a while. I'm not extremely great at sales but I'm alright. I worked for this company for a year, and shortly before that year, something happened at the office that ruined my life. A customer accused the office of stealing money from him, claiming we compromised his bank account when he called in to update his auto-pay. I was the person that answered the phone when he called to update his info so of course, I was the one being looked at. Instead of backing us up in the office up the office manager and agent turned on the defensive and basically threw us to the wolves. I broke down once I found out who it was and that I was the one being looked at as I'm…
Work Overtime to make up for shit raise…
Yep my boss just said that shit to me at a performance review. I'm a salaried engineer so I'm better paid then some, but pretty lowly paid in my field. I work approximately 2256 (read that as about 200 hours more than the usually 9-5) and make kinda shit pay at $64,000. The “raise” this year was 1.56%. so not only are they expecting me to take a pay cut, they want me to work more hours at a reduced hourly rate (I get paid a flat $250 for a 12 hour overtime day) “to compensate for it”. Yeah like that's how this works… Anyways I'm job hunting now.
I quit a job making a few dollars more because of rampant drug use and not wanting to go back down that road. Has ash interview with a bar owner, known in the area for 25 years. He refused to post an actual wage and wanted to start me under the table. Said he would give me so much cash and then 200$ on the books. Him and his wife took me out to eat at a nice place to try to show the “vibe” they were looking for. Wined and dined me then offered me 500 to start. He didn’t specify when he would give it to me. I started working there and turned out it’s a little dive bar. They pour water in the liquor bottles, refuse to throw away food and pull mold off things and put new Day dots on everything. After a few days he…
Has anyone ever been on a PIP and offered to quit in return for a severance/settlement. I was thinking I would try and sue for retaliation since my PIP was given to me hours after I reported my manager. Has anyone ever done a negotiation of severance in exchange for quitting and not sueing?
