I want to find a work from home job. But my biggest concern is getting a remote job that utilize bossware, KPI's, requiring you to be on camera, etc. I just want a remote job that let's you do what you want as long as the work is being turned in. What do I need to look for or what jobs should I avoid that use these spyware techniques? Is it possible to find a no experience remote job that also does not use these software?
For some background I am white, basically translucent. Most of my coworkers however are immigrants from India (some other places too but overwhelmingly India). I work in a laboratory and we sometimes have college students walk through on tours to see how the job works. I was a bit annoyed this time because they asked me to step aside from my work so they could get a better look at the instrument. I walked over to the computers and a coworker from another department says “look at all of them, that’s insane!” I turn to see the group of students and say “huh?” Because these tours are fairly common so it’s weird one would surprise her. She went on to say “They’re all… you know” and by this time I got an idea of what she meant when I noticed the race of all of the students in the class.…
Let me preface this by saying I’m an employee who works for an employer who isn’t smart, but they use these tricks which make me think they’re referring to a book. One big trick is always mentioning the cameras in store and how they are monitoring them. Admittedly that gave me the urge to find something to do when the store was slow when I’m either doing schoolwork or absolutely nothing. It was part guilt and part subjugation I wanna say. After some friction with em and some character trait reveals, I couldn’t care less about doin nothing and my own stuff now, even with em “constantly” monitoring the cameras at all locations. But the question still stands, what book do employers like to use to learn how to “optimize” their workplace and employees
I work at a factory (Ik I should expect OT) but last week our company’s sales quarter ended and my line specifically exceeded production requirements by a lot more than expected. We did so good we even had a meeting with the vice president of the company who was praising us but then he told us that since we did so well the company decided to raise our production requirements by a lot. Then he told us that in order to meet the new production requirements we will have to start working 6 days a week most weeks from now on and they tried to make it sound like a good thing by saying “don’t worry, it’s all overtime pay so you’ll have extra money in your pockets”. I’m so pissed off. I don’t want to do six day weeks. Why are we getting punished for doing something good ?
I work part time at a Fortinos, which never used to be very bad, even when I started a couple years ago. My GOD has this place gone to shit. I'll start with the biggest thing right now: they have started cutting everyone's hours. I though it might've been just me for a while even though I've really had no issues with anyone here at all, but I found out the other day that it's everyone. They have started giving us all less hours and they haven't hired a single new person (at least in my department) for multiple months. It's gotten to the point where most days we have one person work a 5 hour shift in my section, and they expect that to be fine for the entire day. I come in to work in the afternoon and the entire department regularly looks like a fucking tornado went…
Thoughts? Why not make oneself into a Polymath. Crazy enough to work? Heh?

On mobile so apologies for any formatting issues. My boss told me the other day that he's thinking of declaring bankruptcy. Honestly it's overdue. But the way he is planning to go about this will absolutely screw the business's previous owner, as he's still paying off a personal loan to him. Meanwhile I still haven't been paid for my work last month. I have bills due. I feel like an idiot for sticking it out here as long as I have and I just want to get my paycheck and quit. Boss tells me there's an accounting issue and it will take me “a little longer” to get paid. Feeling a bit trapped now. If this guy is willing to screw over the business's previous owner, he wouldn't have a problem doing the same to me. This is a very small business and there's no one else I can go…
