Computer situation Remote
So maybe I am the idiot here but is it normal for a remote W2 position to require you to have your own computer to put their phone system and other stuff on? I am hard against it. I told my wife if they want to give a 1k sign on so we can buy a new computer then sure but using a personal one seems like a huge red flag. 14 an hour so the math comes out to about 72 hours of work before that cost is recouped. Not to mention, if it shits the bed, we are on the hook and not the company.
thank you for showing mercy MacD,
I got fired from my job. For time theft. Leaving early then clocking out at home a couple times was enough liability for them to ax me. Even though I was done with my work. I was stupid, I get it. I am totally accountable. But I still loved my job. I begged to keep it. Even though I told them I won’t do it again. Even though I sacrificed my own health and safety throughout pandemic to treat and provide patient care to covid+ patients. Even though I was doing my god dam hardest to provide excellent and quality care to my patients when I was at work. I really felt I was making a difference in my community and felt so much satisfaction and validation doing what I did on a daily basis. MEANWHILE, high level HR managers and c-suite level suits can physically and verbal assault, harass,…
I always use the office washroom after lunch, and today I had leftover ham & potatoe cassarole. This meal usually makes me gassy, and I destroyed the toilet. As I left the washroom, my female co-worker was waiting to use the toilet (we only have one washroom for all staff), and she immediately left and found our boss. An hour later, I was called into a meeting with management, where I was told that I create “too much flatulence”. I find this to be offensive and discriminatory, but I admit that I usually eat meals that don't always agree with my stomach. Was I in the wrong here?
I was looking to start my own small business and trying to find a way where everyone wins and is happy. Profit sharing, salary caps, making employees partners…. Give me your ideas!!
what would you pay you and why?
Basically exactly that. Would you be happy with a financially modest existence? Would you want complete financial freedom? What is the sweet spot of work and play to you? What would you pay you and why?
French Protests
Why are the French so much better are protesting bad laws and an unjust system than we are? They seem to constantly have thousands of people protesting in every major city. Why is France so much more mobilized/active than the USA?
Just did an interview with a potential employer for a job for which I am very (overly?) qualified. They posted their salary as 100-160K and it's a fully remote job (!!). Not bad right? Only asking for 5 years of experience and a BS in IT. I've got a Master's, 11 years of relevant experience for this role, a ton of certifications, etc. Interview is going great, lady is super impressed, kept knocking her questions out of the park, asked some relevant ones; overall a great interview. Then she drops the bomb “What I'm concerned with is that at your experience level, what are you expecting for compensation?” So I tell her, well, I see your posted range is 100-160 and I think I bring a lot to the table (degree, YoE, certs, business knowledge, etc) so something near the 150 mark in addition to whatever your benefits package is…
