Malicious compliance – kinda

So, my job is hemorrhaging people. I stay because they completely work around my school schedule. They scheduled me every other week for OT without saying shit to me. 52 hour week. I work 12 hour shifts. Well, I guess I will return the favor and call off. They can find someone last minute to do my job at the clinic. If they don’t find someone they can close. And if I feel like it I will use my PTO to cover it. They were scheduled hours after all. Dumbasses.

now we’re being told to LIE during the interview process

https://www.dailydot.com/irl/5-things-you-should-lie-about-job-interview/?amp=#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&aoh=16758777173145&csi=0&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com Just came across this article (link provided above) that says we should lie about specific things during the interview for a prospective job. Kinda tired of this. Why should I have to lie about a shitty manager or shitty co-workers if they made my job difficult? Why should I have to lie about what I do outside of work hours? All these businesses are complaining about people not wanting to work, then they want to go and be picky about shit that doesn't matter. It's none of your damn business what I do AFTER work, nor should that determine whether or not I have a job.

employer needing advice

I run a small company in the medical field, so I'm owner but also manager. I could work alone with no admin support and make good money but I want to be with a team so I've hired people and staff to support them. And I can't get anyone to actually work a sustainable amount of hours. I'm not talking about 30 or even 40. I'm talking about 10 a week. We pay the highest in the area ($78-90 an hour usually, based on insurance, we don't set it). We provide free training in what they want. We advertise and schedule for them. We've given people a break with covid and even given them stipends or advances to help. They don't have mandatory schedules, they can take off what days they want. I just ask that they bill enough to cover expenses, and I give them months to get there.…

Why would working as a personal banker be better than like, target?

Hi, my buddy is saying he got offered a gig as a personal banker which to me really sounds like an entry level customer service job TBH. I assume you get low pay, deal with angry customer yelling about their accounts all day, even though it seems maybe more prestigious or something at first because it’s a bank? But I’m like, how is that different than target where you can at least like, hide in aisleways and aren’t making sales calls and dealing with angry phone calls. Am I nuts? Aren’t they just the same low wage jobs that are pointless at entry level? How is it different than working in food service as a waiter? It honestly seems worse to me because you are making cold call sales calls and dealing with people mad about their money. I don’t want to lead dude wrong though maybe it’s better than…

A couple of months ago, my boss texted me a few hours before my shift to let me know it has been cancelled. Today, I texted them that I can’t come in this evening. Let’s see if they’re a hypocrite and get me trouble for not following “proper procedure.”

Wish me luck boys. I swear I can hear keyboards clacking and meetings getting set up to discuss my unprofessionalness. Just to clarify, we’re supposed to do all our communication by phone (then send an email for paper trail) or email only. We’re not supposed to use our personal phones at all.

Quitting without follow-up employment

I work for a security company that has me doing Loss Prevention for a large department store. I started 3 months ago and was given very little training. I was told the job is $16/hour and has no benefits at all. No sick time, no personal time, no vacation na-da. I took the job because It was getting to the point where I needed money or else I would be homeless. So I took it. I'm so mentally drained from just non stop surveillance of criminals stealing and having to stop them just for them to deny it and try to fight me or get confrentational. My grandma passed away last month and it was hell to get those days off I needed. I was given 3 days off unpaid to help setup the funeral and service (day 1 & 2), and to experience the entire body numbing depressing funeral…

Never interview at PoundStretcher

To start this off, for my non-UK readers. PoundStretcher is the same thing as Dollartree in the US or any other stores which simply rely on even currencies (like the 2 euro store etc). Thought id clear this up since apparently not that many people outside of the UK even know this brand exists. Lets get into it, this was in my first month coming out of sixth form aka college so i had a lot of free time. Applying for jobs to earn some money. And surprisingly i did get an interview at a PoundStretcher which happened to be down the road from my house. Sadly, at this time i had no context of shitty jobs so when i saw it posted on indeed with no salary posted i thought that would be a good things as it may have been “too high to post” how wrong i…

Boss sucks and won’t let us have internet or work from home

I'm a graphic designer. My job isn't high volume or fast turn around or anything, it's a church and i'm doing church stuff. Whatever, it pays well. The problems arise with management and how, literally, stuck in the past he is. First off, I have to come into the office. What do I do when I get here? Sit in Photoshop and browse the internet. Last year when a co-worker asked to work from home for a few weeks because his wife had just had a baby and he wanted to help out, my boss told him “No, I don't think that'll work. If we let you work from home, then gustygardens might also want that.” Which I did. We later found out, because he let it slip, that the real reason he doesn't want us to work from home is because he doesn't like working from home. What's more…
