I love reading stories about horrible bosses getting screwed, and people protecting themselves from predatory companies, but what i’d love to see is resources. So i thought why not make a post and give people the opportunity to share. Union resources, payroll law references, legal aid resources, process information. If you’ve found helpful information or been in a situation where you’ve found help, post a story and a link below. The stories are great, but helping that next worker who’s struggling, that’s really great!
I recently got fired from my tech job and I am in a bit of a worried. I have a 3.5-month unemployment period where I will receive my previous salary, which gives me time to search for my next job. I have received an offer for a job, but the conditions are not ideal. The salary is the same as my previous job, but it is far from my home, I will have to work holidays, and be on-call during off hours. I am torn between accepting this offer or waiting for a better opportunity. On one hand, the conditions are not ideal and I do not want to work in a negative environment. On the other hand, I am worried that if I miss this opportunity, I may not find anything else within my desired salary within the next 3.5 months. Which will leave me without any income. what…
I had a couple part-time jobs during my desperate last year where both employers basically said they did not need me in the job interview. One was an applied behavior analysis role at a charity. I was told I was hired because I had autism myself. The job interviewer and later my supervisor said she had no clients for me to work with, but expected to once the school year started. HR told me I would get 8-40 hours of work per week. I actually got 0 for several months after paid training. I did have physical restrictions, but another able-bodied coworker waited 5 months for a client. It did not pick up after the school year, most likely because they lost their Medicaid funding and were private pay. I was given the offer to transfer to another location 40 miles away for a client and rejected this. They had…
schedule changes day of?
i work part time in a grocery store while i’m in college. i happened to check my work’s scheduling app this morning and noticed they had put me on for 8.5 hour closing shifts for the next five days. no one has reached out to ask me or even tell me. i’m stressing because i have appointments that i can’t reschedule but now i’m supposed to work? and i’m pissed that nobody even told me my schedule changed. what would you guys do??
I hope this is the right place to ask this, but I need some help. Hopefully it doesnt turn to ranty and people can understand my situation. I'm in the US and I've been out of work on FMLA since early November. My time has run out, and I finally have a diagnosis, fibromialgia (amoung some other things, but thats the main one). Even though I finally got a diagnosis, I'm definetly not well enough to return to my very physical maintenance job now if ever. My doctor says it's most likely out of the question to do anything physically intensive for work even if I was recovered from the last few months. The problem is, my boss loves to screw people over. I work in a school district and they already had planned on bringing me back to very different hours, at a different location completely against my will,…
Reporting & keeping anonymity…
..in the work place. Howdy. Ive been reading posts and threads here about folks being worried that their employer or boss may fire them or come after them if they report their employer or boss. Can anyone lend some advice to the sub on how to handle staying safe and anonymous and still report your shitty employer or boss? Cheers. Solidarity.
