..in the work place. Howdy. Ive been reading posts and threads here about folks being worried that their employer or boss may fire them or come after them if they report their employer or boss. Can anyone lend some advice to the sub on how to handle staying safe and anonymous and still report your shitty employer or boss? Cheers. Solidarity.

Feeling completely stuck in my situation
Really not sure what to do. My wage job has been cutting hours and my bills have simultaneously gone up. I’m turning 26 this year and have only worked wage jobs since high school. I have no degree and no means of getting one, I need to start working somewhere that pays me more but I need something fulfilling. I’m naturally creative but everyone knows how that goes when it comes to finding a job. So many jobs require a bachelors degree. Feeling so hopeless I’ve considered seeing a therapist but I can’t even afford that LOL
At work, we use slack, and zoom together to communicate, that's the standard across our team. You need to call someone? Message them on slack and then give them a voice call… Well, my boss often calls my personal phone during work hours, typically when I'm really busy focusing on something that's critical or needs to get done that's very important. Doesn't message me on slack at all or call me, just goes right to my personal phone… This usually leads me to believe that they are not actually at their desk during business hours, they are out doing something. Half the time, they show up to meetings that they have scheduled and they are in their car You can hear their turn signal, or other background noise and you know they are definitely not at their desk doing work during business hours… I consider it highly unprofessional to call…
Or can I say I’m just calling to let you know I won’t be able to come in today?
For the last eight months I’ve worked at an appliance company in its newest location. The company took over an existing family store that was prominent within the community and has been next to dead in the water since they’ve taken over. Zero customers, the showroom itself is empty, zero plan to try and maintain the current customer base, there isn’t even a sign out front. In my eight months, I’ve done what I can to varying results to try to make sales including asking to go on ride alongs to visit local businesses to build up the clientele which never came to fruition. Yesterday I was asked to go back to go to the main office for my review (the main office is a 40 minute drive). I was brought into a room and told that I was, “a cool dude but we don’t think we’re a good fit…
Probably just another rant
Hi, I recently joined small company and there has been a lot of changes since I started. First they have installed CCTV everywhere, and every manager has live feed on their mobile of every corner of the office, not HR or IT. Then they have a new attendance system which allows to access the office, but the managers too have access to it, not the HR. Now they are asking for the passwords of the work phones and Apple account passwords. They are also requesting to submit dates of our leaves for the whole year in advance, otherwise we risk our leaves not being approved. On top of that, they require new joiners to pay health insurance costs back to them if they resign or are terminated during probationary period, which as far as I know is illegal. And they are not allowing employees to work from home anymore even…
You never do enough…
No matter how fast or slow you work you don't do enough. Obviously if you're slow you're not fast enough Then if you work hard and fast you didn't do enough so here here's something else to do. That's exactly the situation I'm ALWAYS in, for example, I do my job pretty fast and get done earlier than my shift does. So my “boss” decides to tell me “go do this this and that since you have nothing else to do ” My response was “okay sorry I had to piss” Like excuse you? You hired me to do job X correct? Yet you want me to do Y and Z yet complain about how much u pay me practically daily. -yes I'm looking for another job, but I'm ready to punch my boss in his mouth for this crap
Every day you're required to show up for any additional 30 minutes you aren't paid for… and no… you AREN'T allowed to take it at the beginning or the end of the day. https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/work-schedules/fact-sheets/lunch-or-other-meal-periods
I would like to express my gratitude to this subreddit for bringing to my attention the detrimental effects of working in an environment where taking time for oneself and self-worth are not valued and work-life balance is non-existent. In my place of work, companies often exploit the willingness of employees to work excessive hours, including weekends, and those who refuse are perceived as not taking their job seriously. However, after visiting this subreddit and conducting further research online, I have come to understand the toxic nature of working as a mere machine, devoid of free will. I am now motivated to strive for better working conditions, not just for myself, but also for all workers who are unjustly forced into the role of corporate slaves.
