Background: I received an email about an interesting hybrid role so I asked how many days a week in the office and pay since I may be interested if its 1-2 days or as needed. He follows back up with 3 days in the office which does not work for me. I thanked him but said I am 100% remote and the role will not work for me ,but if he comes across any remote roles I would be interested. His response is below… https://preview.redd.it/st60udus20ha1.png?width=985&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=409f5d4bdba718c4f62315ae0ee40eb07cce04af

I looked into an accounting job that happened to be for a bike shop. They said they wanted the candidate to spend time riding bikes in their free time and for it to be a part of their “lifestyle”. They also said, with what was previously said, that the candidate would be around people with similar interests. If I go to school for accounting, have experience in accounting, and I apply for an accounting role, why should that involve me riding bikes in my free time. Why should riding bikes become my identity? Is this some kind of a bike cult lol? Like, you hire someone to do a job, with a certain skill set appropriate to the job at hand, you pay them for services provided, and they go home. I’m just imagining going to my CPA in a few months and telling her I can no longer allow…
Context: I recently was hired on three weeks ago at a job after a painfully lengthy application process…unfortunately I was let go as I wasn’t where they expected me to be in terms of training… it sucks, but hey, there’s no use crying over spilled milk. I was pretty chill about it, and I kept the original box that the laptop came in so I just asked them to send me a return label so I can ship it back to them (i’ve had a few remote jobs, so I know how this goes) however, to my surprise, they told me that they won’t be sending me a shipping label, and the responsibility of paying for the returns falls on me. All in all, I would be paying $700 for insurance on the laptop, while also paying for a shipping label and packaging services that they require I utilize (mind…

How many of you have to deal with performance metrics? Calls answered, forms processed, SLAs, etc? My employer is calculating my inbound phone call answering rate incorrectly – they're including calls outside of my normal 8 am – 5 pm work hours and calls that come in during my lunch break. They're obviously doing this to avoid paying out raises at the year-end evaluation. Fuck this hellscape world.
My workplace has zero tolerance for overtime. None is allowed. We are told we have to manage our time efficiently to finish our work on time. This pay period we had about our third of our staff out in addition to emergency situations that had a bunch of us stay late to keep us running. I worked second shift, and 1st shift at my usual start time the next day. I came in early and left late several days because they wanted me to do so. I tried coming in late and showed up early because operations was not running and they needed support. And surprise surprise! We get an angry email from our boss telling us that next time we have OT we would have to respond personally to the CEO. I hate this place.
