I am in a complicated situation with my job. I have been employed for a year and a half and left for maternity leave. Before leave my job was a mix of remote and in office work, I worked fully remote the last month before having my baby. During leave I moved further away and prior to my return I informed my supervisor by email that due to the distance and my baby not being able to be vaccinated for Covid for 6 months I would need to work remotely for the indeterminate future. This arrangement has continued since then – they expressed that they would prefer me to come into the office and since I cannot they might look for a replacement and they would like me to train them. So I was just looking at a post. It was an image post for a news article. However, it lacked a link to the actual article by OP. It had a lot of discussion, but it was almost universally from people who hadn't read the actual article and were simply reacting to the headline. This creates a situation were much of the discussion is nothing more than opinions about a headline instead of substantive discussion about the content. It doesn't further anti-work ideas or concepts, it just makes the discussions… empty. Now, this isn't my first time on the internet, I know there will always be those who don't read the article and still post. I don't think there is any good way to stop that. That said, aren't we doing ourselves a disservice if we don't ask that news article posts actually link to the articles themselves? Why can't…

Wife is 5 months pregnant and wants to switch jobs. She’s interviewed for one and might get an offer on Friday. When does she tell them she’s pregnant? Before accepting the offer? For context, it’s a small firm that (1) isn’t required to follow FMLA, and (2) does not kick in maternity leave until 9 months in. Oddly, the first interviewer mentioned to her that IF someone was pregnant at time of hire (she said “don’t tell me if you are”), then the company has worked with those people in the past. I don’t think there’s any way she could have known, as my wife’s social media is private and her face doesn’t show it (the interview was via zoom). But the whole company (not sure how big, maybe 8 people?), is run by women and so maybe she is just aware that my wife is of child bearing age.…

I was upstairs in the building, I’m a cleaner and I did all my main stuff for the morning that I’m supposed to do. Keep in mind that we’re not allowed to use our phones on shift, my (bitch) supervisor keeps saying that but uses her phone for Facebook. Anyway, my other co-worker came upstairs, let’s call her Mary. Because of so many stupid job postings from employers, with unrealistic expectations and “requirements”, I considered making up a COMPLETELY FAKE resume (fake name and all) and posting it on Indeed, Linked In, etc., to “apply” for these jobs….. JUST TO COMPLETELY WASTE THEIR TIME !!! It could be hilarious fun!! You know, like you “apply” for a job, you agree to come in for an interview (“Tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.? Sure! I’ll be there!”)….and then just NOT SHOW!! But I would only do this with particular jobs/employers that are known to be skanks. As a way of giving them some of their own medicine. Whaddya think?!! .

I work in live production for many different companies. My boss for today pulled me to the side of the stage to say, “Why did you do what I told you not to? I fucking hired you. You fucking work for me! If you don’t like that you can fucking leave!” I didn’t leave, but I did get the job done my way. His instructions were unsafe for the crew and stage. Petty revenge, I’m sitting in the comfy chair I had brought for him to use backstage.

I work at a mill in bumblefuck nowhere outside Charleston. These guys are all salty about The State of the Union Address last night. They're saying all this dumb loser shit like “not my President” and rambling about voter conspiracies. Then, one of the managers starts talking about democrats protesting and he goes, “I'd love to shoot all of em” and the other managers started “mmmhmm'ing” their approval. Every day I listen to dumb fascist shit from people here. I need to move back to a non terrorist state and get into a job field that isn't rife with white supremacist/christian fascists. I'm so sick of this shit. The reality is that most people in positions of corporate power in this country think like this to some extent.
