20m, recently got a new job dishwashing at a local pizza place. Owner says that the machines automatically clock you out after 9:30 (we close at 9), but so far I have not been getting out until after 10. I mentioned to the cook that it might be illegal, and her response was “It’s not illegal because you should only need 30 minutes to close”. I recognize that I’m new and have a lot to learn as far as setting up a system, but it feels bad when im losing up to an hour’s worth of pay. I know withholding pay is illegal in most states, but I am in Alabama, so I don’t trust my state labor regulations. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!
Interesting video. They ask a really good engineer from Finland about why he doesn't move to Sillicone Valley. Check out how he answers. The safety net his country gives him completely altered his perspective on money – it no longer drives him. Greed levels are systemic. pic.twitter.com/s9qFXlc0Pk— Yugopnik (@yugopnik) June 14, 2022
My ratings got discussed
So I joined a new team in 2021 june and my ratings were discussed by me leader where I accepted bad rating because I was new to the team and a leader only has a certain amount of good rating he can give. But yesterday the ratings for 2022 got discussed where after one year of hard work(way more extra initiatives were taken by me when compared to other team members and it was pretty visible in team meetings where we shared what we did extra) my ratings were still not good. The reason given to me by my leader this time was that since two new members joined in december 2022 and their ex team leaders wished them to get good ratings so my leader had to give those good ratings to these new guys from his own quota. How is that fair to me who worked his ass…
12 hours pushing it??
I started working again since I was fresh out of college and was currently stuck at home (pandemic and hard to find a new job). I get a job finally, but I wonder if it was worth taking 12 hours again? I've already been through it after I resigned and do concern about getting covid. Three years have already passed, and i felt I could get back to work again, but I when apply for the job, I was $1000 dollars bonus. However, now I feel like it's not worth it. I was supposed to start my shift at 7am-730pm but I had to be at work 6:30am to 7:30 pm. I felt I got yhr hang morning and lunch shift, but everyone got to leave at 2:30pm while I had to wait an 2 hours and half for dinner shift to come in. I asked my boss what I…
if the owner is also hr, run
my job is keeping two creeps on staff who keep messaging & harassing the 15-17 y/o cashiers. i was just promoted to management a couple months ago but only found out about this situation like 3 weeks ago. told the girls to report them to the owners & found out that apparently the owners & the GM have known about one of these guys’ bs for years and just havent done anything (the other guy is new so not sure if theyll keep him). why? bc the owner is both the hr department & hiring department and ig doesnt want to get rid of trained employees no matter what. like, theyve kept some pretty bad employees but i wouldve thought predators were a line too far, not for them ig. apparently she told the girls something along the lines ignore the guys, ask for different hours, and hope they dont…
getting really annoyed with this
I am 17. I work at a chain restaurant. I was supposed to get my pay card (a visa card that our paycheck goes on?) last Thursday. I'm getting really annoyed about it. My manager won't tell me when it's supposed to arrive, neither will my boss
(On mobile, obligatory formatting apologies) My company laminates specialty fabrics (think medical cuffs, airplane slides, inflatable rafts) for a much larger multinational company. There's this younger kid (early 20's) that's been working here for over nine months in an overnight department headed by a notoriously bad boss. The boss loves creating a hostile work environment and rides his people like a rented mule (this is the kind of guy who will find you in the bathroom if you're taking too long because “you should train your body not to have to take a dump”) Management knows all about this guy and shields him from the consequences of his behavior. No one knows why, but the GM defends this guy tooth and nail. There's a four dollar shift differential between second and third shift in an attempt to get workers to stay, that's how bad this department head is. So anyway,…
It’s not about the money!
All of you ungreatful brats would be so much happier if you understood that it’s not about the money! Back when I had my first job as a young one I made $15 a day! Did I complain? No! I showed up, worked hard all while putting a smile on my face! You owe it to the older generation to work hard, they raised you, They gave you all these things we have today! Without us you wouldn’t be here today!
