So, I got an unpaid promotion (ugh) and have been doing team trainings at breakneck pace at my current job. Had a coaching online meeting with one of the new people, and at the end, they mentioned in passing that they had worked with Employee X for years and that it wasn't public knowledge, but the reason that she was skipping so many days was that they have Stage IV cancer and aren't expected to make it through the year, and she had to go to chemo and also a few emergency doc visits. They're not even 40 yet. I asked my colleague why they didn't just say “fuck it” and quit to be with their partner. Answer: She needs the insurance to cover not just her chemo but hospice, so that when she CAN'T work anymore she can at least get morphine etc at the end. Not in a…
Wasn't sure where to ask since this is kind of a corporate structure question? I feel like this crowd will at least understand the frustration. A local store for a popular sub sandwich franchise recently had a grand re-opening after being closed due to failing a health inspection; the old store manager was found to be inept and created poor working conditions along with their food-handling and hygiene failures. At some point before closing (and probably before the inspection), there was a strike among non-management employees, and almost all either quit or were fired before the store was re-staffed and reopened. The district manager made some statements today about banning ex-employees who now work for doordash from delivering at their store as not to 'let them get anymore money from us.' It turned out that was a misinterpretation from a message sent down from the regional manager who actually wanted…
Just curious about this because factoring all the bullshit that's happening to supply chains during the pandemic years, and the rising inflation and maybe a meteor slamming into us soon etc. How many of you have started making plans for your own food security, or at the least, ensuring that you spend some effort and get “free” food to supplement what you are eating?
Do i need to block them all? They will all show up once I place the company in my work history. Edit: just my current employer
Sexist workplace
So I work at a carwash, its not hard work, but I have been there 3 years (20f) . Really the only things I don't know how to do there is fixing the heavy machinery or putting on our reclaim system (only one manager has been training me properly on that) one of our managers left in July so my boss was looking to promote us to supervisor, his first pick was my male coworker who didn't want the position and has only been there 6 months or so at the time, I offered to change my schedule, cover shifts, keep my sales rep position while attending to the other tasks, and learn anything that I didn't know how to do already incase necessary. My boss still did not want to give me the position until my other manager (he happens to be my boyfriend but we do our best…
Hi – I am in Oregon and have been in a constructive discharge situation where I was forced out of my position and forced to resign after intense retaliation by my boss. This is to write and send a letter only to try to negotiate exit terms. Everyone I have tried is not accepting new clients or doesn’t have time. Is there anyone in this group that could help? Thanks.
