Category: Antiwork
My wife has worked retail jobs ever since she got out of the Navy. The last two that she's worked at have required her to work weekends regularly. Before she went and talked to her boss, they were only giving her one Sunday off every month. My job only gives me weekends off. There is no option to work on a Saturday or Sunday to get a weekday off so as a result the only time we get to spend a whole day together is on that one day a month (unless one of us burns a vacation day). Her store has been winning companywide awards for selling so I thought it was a good time for her to ask her boss to see if she could possibly get every other Sunday off. Since my wife is an assistant manager to one of the departments that's been doing the best out…
Retail Management is interesting.
I love how they walk around scowling with discontent and disgust at everything their subordinates are doing, while simultaneously being smug about how they could do everything they can do with one hand tied behind their backs. Yet, when push comes to shove and their turn over rate is high due to their unrealistic expectations, they won't jump in and help with the work. I wonder if high turn over rates affect them in the long run and what would happen if everyone just stopped showing up. Instead those who remain are inundated with a backlog of work with 5 or more bosses reaming them for it not being done. It absolutely makes no sense. Even if things were running smoothly, the micromanaging and nitpicking is behind annoying. I've heard them say that they wish the work was automated, but in their short-sightedness, they fail to see that with a…
I’m going based off my experience alone, maybe I was singled out idk. I haven’t worked in mgmt but I have the mindset that if you have a good attendance track record, you give advanced notice when it comes to requesting vacation/putting in PTO requests, mgmt doesn’t have a reason to question every little detail. Someone else also told me a while back that bosses don’t have a right to know, it’s not their business. In my last position, I barely took time off when I quit I got a paycheck solely for PTO accrued & I had 80 hrs (2 weeks of pay). One time I came to work 30 min late, I texted my boss in advance & happened to have a meeting scheduled with him shortly after arriving. He asked & I said I had something personal I needed to attend to (it’s been a while memory…
Disagreement within bargaining unit?
My bargaining unit is very wide & we are office workers. We have secretaries, accountants, customer service & attorneys all in the bargaining unit. The higher up employees say the union is looking out more for the lower employees & the lower employees say the union is favoring the higher up employees. Has anyone else been in a situation like this or have any thoughts?
I have a mental breakdown after an email like this, because no information is given to Mr as to what application this is for, what company or even a proper email to reply to. I don't know if this is anti-work but if you are an employer seeing this SHOVE EMAILS LIKE THIS UP SOMEWHERE ELSE. Ps:I've made about 10+ accounts to apply for jobs for companies. I don't know what account I'm looking for, and everytime I receive emails like this I have a sever mental breakdown (serious).
So What’s the REAL interview for Again?
Husbands company says they’ll dock pay…
My husband works as a plumber for a local plumbing company in KY. This company was bought by a home insurance company so now these guys are their employees. Every company vehicle has a speed tracker. My husband’s manager sent a mass text to all employees saying that if they continue to speed, after a verbal warning then written warning, the speeder will be docked $1/hr off their check for a week. Is that legal??
