A friend of mine is being threatened that she must pay a drawer shortage or be fired. The issue is that there is not actually a shortage. On her POS system, employees must manually push a button to select cash or credit. She accidentally pressed the cash option for a credit purchase. The company has the money, the drawer is just off. I’ve worked in retail management. Generally when this happens, you file a shortage report and the error is fixed. No money is lost so it isn’t a big deal. It’s annoying, but not the end of the world. My question is, can the employer force her to pay? I know in Indiana, employers cannot dock pay for drawer shortages. To get around this, the employer is telling my friend that she must pay out of pocket. Is this enforceable?

Reason for leaving
Hi, recently my company has laid off employees and there will be another batch of layoffs in the next couple of months. So, I felt anxious about that and applied to other companies and there is one company that called me for an interview (same role as my current company) next week. I'm wondering what to write in the application form for “reason for leaving”, what “reasonable” reason should I state in “reason for leaving” when I'm actually anxious and want to find a backup plan just in case I get laid off from my current company?

During a meeting on february 14, the engineer that was berated alongside me quit on the spot. i decided to send this letter after that. Would you guys think this is something I can work through or should I leave? Names of people and projects have been changed for identity purposes. Dear John, I am writing this letter to express my concerns about the current situation at abc company following the mandatory staff meeting on February 14, 2023. During the meeting, my colleague, Jenn, and I were berated and blamed for issues we were not aware of in front of everyone. I feel it is imperative to address the issues that need attention at abc. I would like to highlight a few points, which I believe are vital…
