Hey antiwork. I've been working for a start-up company for a few months and they just absolutely can't seem to get their shit together. We got bought by a larger company and since then I've been paid late twice and today is supposed to be payday. I already received my stub through my app however no money has hit my account yet. I have $1.23 in my account and skipped breakfast and lunch so far. Company expects a lot from me today but I'm not feeling it understandably. Any advice? Condolences? Charity or job hunting help? This isn't sustainable.

I work at a tribal casino, so we only follow federal laws. In my position, depending on the day, I make $8/hr + tips and sometimes I make $19/hr flat. I’ve been having an issue with payroll for the last 6 weeks because the days where I’m supposed to be making 19/hr I am only being paid $8. They have been paying me back the extra 11 but it takes anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks to see the rest of that money. Is there something that can be done to make sure I’m either paid properly right away, or at least get the rest of my money as soon as possible? We agree that as at-will we can quit whenever we like for any and no reason But as an employer, I honestly feel like there should be a law that they need to give us 2 weeks to a month's notice if they want to terminate us, or we get immediate access to unemployment or severance. We work to pay for our home, family, and livelihood. Because our basic rights require hella money. It's crazy someone can fire people let alone “lay off” thousands in one swoop without warning. I can honestly say it boils down to me not liking my job. I don’t think jobs are for me. I don’t think I have an issue actually working, but jobs i don’t like. For example if you put me on a farm and i did some stuff there, i’d be cool . But with jobs they force you to fit into this mold. You have to smile and give great customer service, you can’t be one minute late, you have to answer to multiple supervisors and managers, etc. especially since I do 12 hour shifts at the hospital (nursing aide), i cannot do it if I am dreading it, and I just feel trapped. Calling in makes it worse bc you add the anxiety of “I’m not pulling my weight, they know I call out too much,they’re gonna sit me down to talk to me” etc. I feel much…
