This was at my now former place of work, I was part of a union of a large grocery chain and our union was full of corporate shills and vastly ineffective for the majority of it's members. First of all new hires were given no information about the union, with some being surprised to learn they were even in one, wages were still $1 above minimum wage, shit for benefits, and an ever increasing amount of full time positions being replaced by due paying part timers who got not even that. I tried to get involved with the union but was met with instant roadblock of the aforementioned ineffective shill union rep. Eventually I ended up just quitting after being constructively dismissed. Was there anything I could have done or are cases like these just a case of gtfo?

Spread thin
So I had a really awesome former manager and assistant manager. I work in apartment maintenance. But, they do exclusively lease ups so recently they left and the new team is killing me. I feel like there's always been a divide between leasing and maintenance but this could not be more true now. We are not in a position where we support eachother and I am currently doing 4 people's worth of work. I do full apartments turns, work orders, grounds, building cleans and snow removal. I was sent to help at another property and I worked really hard to get everything in order before I left. But, they text me almost daily, chastising me like a child for not doing things there when I'm obviously somewhere else. Expectations and an understanding of what is expected has changed but it was spun like I just chose not to do certain…
Old but Gold
I remember when I have student loans and they used to remind to pay up by this gem
Job interviews are going great
I was told to post this here. After recently receiving my hundredth “we’re going to mail you a check to buy office supplies” scam email I may have finally snapped.
Half of those who replied asked for a follow up with a cover letter. The rest were not remote based work and were incompatible. This leads me to believe that most jobs won’t even consider you if you don’t submit a cover letter. If they can put out a general “Thanks for applying!” without a custom brown nosing love letter, why shouldn’t I be able to submit my resume? You can see my qualifications. I don’t care about working enough to beg for you to look at them. Maybe the industry is competitive but I am not. I am just trying to make money like a regular person with my skills. I have never, ever held a “real” job for more than a year and have worked for myself in various capacities my whole life. I just need something to do for work because I’m not getting insurance anymore and…
Corporate concentration
I can’t be the only one who has coworkers that have been in the same position there entire career and act like they hate their job but also stress themselves out with things that are either out of their control or don’t have anything to do with them. Like a coworker was telling me how me and another guy should do something differently because someone at another branch two hours away would have their time taken up slightly longer. I just genuinely don’t understand why people care so much about anything past their assigned responsibilities
They basically just ensured I wasn't going to kill myself in work, before telling me there's nothing else I can do. Pathetic.
