Im getting real fucking annoyed. I do contract work for a company based in DC, and my boss got married randomly to a Russian girl who he met in March of this year and is half his age, and now he’s behind on everything. Clients are getting mad bc he’s so unresponsive, and I’m getting mad bc he hasn’t paid me. It’s only been like a week since I submitted my invoice, but I got shit to pay. Legally, how long does he have to pay me? Edit: I added the context about him getting married bc pre marriage he was on top of things, and now he’s annoying me with his inability to manage his personal and professional life.
Hey everyone, just needed to rant with people I know will understand haha I'm a ESL teacher here in Brazil, and have been since 2021. I got tired, is too much work without the proper recognition or even proper payment, so this year I started looking for new jobs. Thursday I got an interview and in the same day got the job to be a Bilingual Receptionist. This job would be registered, whereas at my current job I work as a SP. Because of this, the money I get from teaching now is less than I would get from this new job, so I scheduled a meeting with my coordinator on Friday (following day as I got selected for the receptionist job) to tell her I would be leaving. When I told her that next week would be my last week with them, she got shocked and tried to talk…
WA bathroom accessibility requirements.
I work at a nationwide retail store that also has a hair salon. Washington State code says that employers must provide a restroom but there can be reasonable restrictions like if you're an essential worker or on a line you have to get coverage for your spot before you can go. My store recently started locking our bathrooms because people were doing drugs and stealing a lot. We had a key that was accessible to employees. They didn't tell us the reason why but they just took it away and only managers have a key now and you either have to search them out or page them. There are two main assumptions at this point. Trying to find internal theft or micro managing because when someone goes to the bathroom it gets obvious because customers get mad there is no one to help them since of course they are operating…

Not getting paid for our time worked
Ok this is a bit of a rant. So I work in the mental healthcare field. I am included in various group text chats, Google chats, email threads etc. I am constantly getting messages and whatnot from work, including my off time. I have muted all of my chats during off time, which has annoyed management. Recently got an email saying I needed to sign some OJT paperwork, for a job I've had for a year and a half. I've signed this paperwork 6 times now. (I work with different individuals so I need an OJT for each house) But several houses I have signed the paperwork several times and they keep losing it. This upset me because they said I have to come in on my off time to sign it, even though they keep losing it. I'm not really upset, and it won't take much time at all…
Scummy people exploited immigrant
I realize this might not fall under the category of antiwork but those charged are absolutely reprehensible people…. https://www.wndu.com/2024/05/03/3-charged-after-woman-forced-work-three-rivers-store-8-years-with-no-pay/ ‐——————- THREE RIVERS, Mich. (WNDU) – Three store owners in Three Rivers are facing charges after they allegedly labor trafficked a woman who was brought to the United States under the auspices of marriage. According to our reporting partners at WTHD, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced the charges on Wednesday. Nessel said 40-year-old Ikbahl Machhal, 67-year-old Katar Chand, and 66-year-old Shila Devi were each charged with one count of human trafficking forced labor, and one count of human trafficking enterprise. Both charges are 10-year felonies. Police say they began trafficking the now 33-year-old woman back in 2012 when family forced her to move in with the three suspects who were her husband and in-laws. The victim alleges they forced her to work at the Broadway Market in Three Rivers eight…
I never thought when I was a child we would live in such a dystopia. Not Canadian but in US we also sweep housing issues/poor people into the sewer. Very sad story. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11516989/Canadian-man-doctors-approval-euthanasia-despite-admitting-POVERTY-main-factor.html
