“Net Worth”
I don't know why it took me so long to realize it, but the phrase “net worth,” is another tragic, screaming example of what's wrong with our society. Many will correctly point out that it's a descriptive economic term. But think about it. Without the implied idea that it means *economic* worth, these words quite literally describe the value of a human being. And this read of those words is reinforced every day by America's deification of the rich. And interestingly, in contrast to most parts of our system which are designed to extract greater labor for lower cost, this one ends up costing us our self-esteem. To even remotely suggest or imply that our net worth can be expressed in dollars is beyond grotesque, and a vivid example of the horrors of late stage capitalism.
My mom is having a rough time
I don’t really know where else to talk about this. I also don’t know whether I should even post this, because I haven’t asked my mom if she wanted me to, and this is her problem, not mine. But I just feel worried about her. Of course, I won’t give any identifying info or anything, but still. So, my mom works at a hospital. She is supposed to work the weekend every few weeks. But this time her weekend has been pushed forward because her boss made a mistake when posting the draft for the schedule by not having seen a couple of scheduling requests that her boss got, even though those requests were put in in a timely manner. Her boss had two options: either push those two people’s weekends forward, or push their weekends back and push someone else’s weekends forward. Of course, her boss chose the latter…
Can Lemonade Residue Grow Mold
Currently at my job where working a mandatory weekend. Four days of 6am-11pm. They provided us with free meals and ice water. After a few glasses I noticed a bunch of black and brown debris floating in it. Turns out it was coming directly from the pitchers spigot. My supervisors have told me they investigated and it turned out to be lemonade residue because they forgot to clean the spigot. I've been progressively getting sick since drinking it. Sweating my ass off, can't stop the liquid shits, and vomiting. Am I wrong for thinking that it was mold? I'm highly sensitive to mold so that's what I'm thinking the problem is.
I feel like you only get good service if you are upper management or C-Suite in a company, because I feel like they never have to go through any of this crap. My employer messed up the check somewhere, it may be that bottom part or somewhere else, but the company acknowledged that there was a “bad batch of checks” send out without admitting what they did wrong so I'm speculating, but regardless as an employee of their company, they should cover consequences for THEIR actions that have negatively impacted me indirectly. But they refuse, my boss, his boss, and HR. When I deposited my paycheck I was later notified the check wasn't good. I was charged a -$35 bounce fee by MT bank, which dropped my account below zero, which added a -$15 overdraft fee, and that fee is every day until the account is at 0, so each…
Not much else to say than what’s not in the title. I got hired at a new place last year which required me to often drive to different locations to work. Because of their fucked up miles system, I’m only going to be reimbursed for about a tenth of what I actually drove. I’m a college student and really hurting for money, so this is a huge blow rn
Screw you fortune !
You can't make this stuff up.
