Appreciate antiwork VERY much, and thought I'd add my quick story: worked in a law office at age 25. My tendons started hurting from a bad work set up. I had no idea what was happening to me, and when they told me to work through it, I was too young and naive to understand. Little did I know I would develop a repetitive stress injury that bothers me TO THIS DAY, 25 years later. A lifetime injury for a 10 dollar an hour job. Once I filed a claim, the harassed me to try to get me to quit, and made my life a living hell. I offer you this advice: don't be like me… BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE and SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you're injured at work. I almost lost everything. Stay strong, and reach out for support. Best to you all, my friends.

All insurance leeches off of someone or something. And it's certainly easier to buy assets when you've got disposable income, and smart to protect those assets with what you can. But why is HEALTH INSURANCE tied to your employer?I'd rather have universal healthcare in America, but I can't help but think of how much wasted effort, time, and added exploitation that comes from having basic health needs tied to where you're working. This shit is so outdated, but because businesses are required to supply it (often at the bare minimum), all that money is being kept from the workers or being spent on learning the latest games of the insurance brokers. You'd think we'd be able to negotiate the coverage we need instead of knocking around from provider to provider or accept a wage that might never increase. Isn't this just inherently a terrible and unamerican idea? Is it too…
Privileged clowns.
I'm 35, have major congenital heart problems, and tired of working my desk job every day. I've had one heart procedure, and in a few years I'll have open heart surgery when my aortic valve eventually fails. I also have a history of TIAs, and my doctor says I'm at a high risk of stroke. It's baffling because I take care of myself (5'11″, 160lb) and exercise alot. I am just unlucky regarding my health I guess. I got lucky with my investments, have enough money saved up to last me 20~ years. I just don't give a fuck any more. I'd rather take the risk and enjoy the free time I have now instead of wasting my time at some shit corporate office job. A very stressful one at that. I could have a stroke or heart attack and die tomorrow, and all of my money would go to…
My gf’s manager at her job
My friend is taking classes at a community College, she got financial aid so she didn't have to pay much out of pocket. Meanwhile she is bragging about how she's working THREE jobs while taking six classes. She's failing 2. One job is full time and the other 2 are part time. She is almost always at work, and she still can't afford her own measly, modest apartment. The jobs are very low paying (babysitting, server, and full time as a secretary). She isn't wreckless with her money but college textbooks and living expenses are hard to cover on the small wages. She moved in with a boyfriend to make things more manageable. It's just absolutely sick and disgusting that her reality is a reality for so many. Having to swing that much of a workload while being a full time student is absurd. She's stressing herself out and failing…
