Accelerated Performance Improvement:
I hate corporate America. I want off this insane merry go round. My employer finally managed to break my mind, spirit, and body. Just prior to finally filing for FMLA/LOA/STD my employer had the brilliant thought that accelerate PIPs would somehow be motivating. Not sure what kool-aid Sr. Leadership and HR were drinking when they penned that policy. Basically PIPs went from 90 days or less to correct to 30 days or less (10 day intervals before escalating). After 30 days disciplinary action can be up to termination: This is what finally convinced me to take an LOA. While the crushing working load, abuse of “exempt employment”, ridiculous time off restrictions all played apart in my eventually break down, this accelerated PIP is what actually broke me. They did make a point of stating “this is not a witch hunt.” They can’t even keep enough staff to make sure departments…
They forced us to work Saturdays
I would also be mad
I work in Oregon, which is an At Will Employment state. The details of that are a little vague online. Long story short, my company put in my contract that I give a 2 month notice if I leave. It’s a European HQ, hence their insistence on 2 months. I’m not close to leaving and even if I did I’ve got a good relationship with them so I’d give as long as possible (gave 10 weeks once when I was moving across the US). Just curious, if I did just give 2 weeks – could I be in breach of contract? FYI current HQ is in WA.
Who misses the old r/antiwork?
Does anyone feel that since the disastrous mod interview on Fox a few years back, the tone of this sub has changed? Before that, there were many discussions about the system of work, capitalism, etc but how most of the posts seem to be about workplaces doing shady things/asking for help with those kinds of issues. Don’t get me wrong, those posts are important too, but it’s rare that you see posts that engage with the core issues behind the system we live in.
