The shifts I have been working in my current role have been draining me for the last 12-18 months. I've noticed that my work-life balance has slowly been declining and I'm starting to get to the point of being unhappy now. I like my job and it can be quite easy most days, but the shifts and management in the place are extremely tiring and questionable. I've started to look and apply for new jobs and have seen a couple that I like the look of but would be taking £10-15k pay cut with some if I am successful. I don't live on my current wage so dropping to a lower salary would still be affordable, but I'd probably have to stop doing some of the hobbies I enjoy too. Is it worth it or should I keep looking for other jobs that offer a similar salary to what I'm…

My dad retired in January 2020 at the age of 64. The world shut down two months later. He died from COVID in January 2021 at the age of 65. He spent his whole entire life working with little to no time off and never got to enjoy his retirement. For what? It's not worth it. Enjoy your youth and health while you have it.
25$ an hour to clean vehicles outside
Do you guys think this is a good amount of $ per hour? If not what amount would be a fair amount? State is Florida. I am hiring people and want to make sure I offer something good enough. I rather have a thinner margin and do it well than running people to the ground. The vehicle are not cars btw. I know this sub is very critical of working conditions and it is full of businesses exploiting workers no days. I don’t want to do that myself. At the same time I can’t run things for free so I need to make a profit. Also the responsibility of liability would fall on me and myself only. Don’t tell me to lower the wages. After many considerations it would be affordable for me to pay that rate. EDIT: let’s consider $120 gross per hour. Let’s call it $100 net. How…
My First Corporate Job
Can you guess the company from the following story? It was on Forbes 2022″ Best Companies to Work For” List. I worked in Physical Labor, and part of policy was something called Mandatory Over Time (we called it Mando). That is when the supervisor approaches an employee, and tells them they have to stay an extra 1.5/2/4 hours. They would also come to you on your Friday, and mando you 8-12 hours on your first day off a week. And although mando is double pay, it would all get taxed out. I've been on the clock for 96 hours before, and still have to show up PROMPTLY four hours later when that (what we called a Call of Duty shift) ended. In addition: No breaks longer than 15 Extreme dress code Only 1 extra day off a month (So that plus one day off a week is 5 days of…
I work in a physical therapy office. The only staff outside of the 4 PTs are me and the front desk manager. She works 8-5. When she’s done it’s only me until 8pm doing all of the pt aide work as well as the front desk reception/scheduling. Any time she’s even been out sick it’s been on me to come in and cover. It’s stressful. But it was manageable BEFORE we merged with a larger company. Back in September 22, we merged and immediate scheduling changes happened. The PTs are now being told industry standard is 3-4 patients per hour. We’re getting busy and I’m still the only evening staff who is struggling to handle the front desk and provide adequate support to the PTs. I’ve been told we’re being watched. They’re tracking our phonecalls and asking why so many calls ring to voicemail. It’s because I’m in the back…
I honestly don't know what will happen, but I do recall reading in Justice Clarence Thomas' memoir that a law student once suggested he file for bankruptcy to alleviate the “crushing weight” of his debts. However, Thomas rejected the idea and didn't repay his loans until he was in his mid-40s and already serving as a justice. Although I wouldn't expect him to rule in favor of anyone these days, I am still intrigued by the other justices and their potential rulings. To those who are directly affected, please know that many of us are hopeful for you.
Since I was 18 I had 3 jobs up until last year, I got a union job cleaning for a college. I recently looked into going to college for cybersecurity. But I have yo get certified first then take classes and it's all up front. The “payment plans” they offer is split into 4 which is still over 1k per payment. I am a hard worker. I've done almost every single job I could with my education, but jobs don't care they just want that degree. So anyway if you read this whole thing I am looking for a work from home job so links would be great
