Imagine working for this man in 2023.
Everyone's going to tell me that working IT is going to become mundane and monotonous but after this past week I've come to the conclusion that, literally anything is better than working retail or a call center customer support job. I'm constantly told that I'm overqualified with my A+ certification just for a help desk analyst position, and I get that, but this puts me in a field where I'm working a standard 8 to 5 dealing with things I actually enjoy working with. Plus I get a much more significant pay bump than when I left my retail job. It's an absolute win-win for me.
So basically, I work at the front desk of a hospital in the oncology department. It's bittersweet, but I love my job. I'm also part of our union, though union power is somewhat limited due to us being unable to strike. Before my current manager took over, the front desk always had little seasonal decorations or artistic gifts from patients, and it really helped to brighten up the place both for our coworkers and the patients. Since our new manager took over, we've been getting stricter rules about what we can have at the front desk. No more seasonal decorations, so we got rid of those. No more personal items, so I got rid of those. I took home some of the patient gifts as well. People actually comment nowadays that it looks kind of sterile and depressing. All I had left near my desk were two small, painted rocks…
Law Firm Work with an 8 Month Old
I actually have a real question: I am super fucking over it with my job. I don’t know how much more I have for this job. Also some background: I am a paralegal at a law firm with 3 old white men who are between the ages of 67 and 76. There is also another partner at the firm who is actually younger than me; he is 38 and I am 41. He is a actually kind of the worst: won’t respond to emails, impossible to discuss issues with. I’m making all of this way more complicated than it has to be. Let’s make the long short: I am super over these old white men who cannot remember shit and expect me to endlessly fix their fuck ups. Just for reference, I get paid salary $2,4000 per month and I work well over 80 hours per week. Also: I have…
Submitted for entertainment purposes: Most people open up various investment schemes for “retirement” and then proceed to donate their lives to something they hate for their “retirement goals”… The SCSP (Societal Collapse Savings Plan) is a retirement plan designed to help you survive the collapse of society. Compared to most people who invest in society, the SCSP is actually a method to bet against those types of investment vehicles. Truly a method for “shorting” society as a whole. Many millennials already subscribe to this program. The program is based on cashFLOW. You start the process by obtaining as many unsecured credit products as possible such as credit cards and lines of credit. Now spend, spend it all until nearly all of your income goes to servicing the interest. Many people reach this point without even realizing it. You can choose to continue to be a wage slave and attempt to…
he told me that we are not connecting professionally. i was brand new, less than 90 days in. i worked hard, it was a new type of law so i made minor mistakes that were always fixable. never many mistakes tho. 2-3 tops but never the same mistake. i just don’t get it. no hate please. just trying to understand.
I've worked in a cafe a little over two years now, and I'm honestly just there for the money and flexibility of a casual job that gives me the freedom to ask for days off when I need it and go travelling more often. The place itself is ok, good hours, nice (overall) customers, good coffee etc. But the owner is a horrible human being. He micromanages us, has accused people of “stealing food”, doesn't give us proper breaks or gets angry when we go on breaks, gets annoyed if we stopped for 5 minutes after a busy wave of customers just to chat and chill and says he's not “paying us to stand around and do nothing”. It's constant anxiety and thinking you're not good enough. In resume, he's just a shitty person who thinks he's the best boss in the world. Also he will pick on certain people…
