We had a new boss take over in November who the team hates. I was the only one who tried to defend them in some regard even though they argued I got the brunt of their anger and problems the most. The reasons for letting me go didn't even make sense, they were just trying to come up with excuses so they could avoid stating my medical condition for the reason. (But them taking week long vacations being unreachable during a massive deadline is totally fine). There really is no loyalty for corporations and while I knew that I guess it just didn't really click for me fully until now. At least this gives me a chance to get away from a toxic work environment, even if it feels more like a punch to the gut right now.

Hey everyone- My gf is starting a new job, and she’s been told not to discuss pay (twice in person, once in handbook). The company says it’s a terminable offense. Obviously, this is illegal. I just want to get some advice on what she should do. I suggested to her that she privately talk to the managers and let them know she knows it’s illegal, and maybe brung forth the penalties the company would incur if a complaint were to be filed. Only trouble is, I can’t find any data for what the penalties would be. Do any of you have experience with this sort of thing? If so, what did you do? Just a guy trying to help his gf. Thanks!
About to quit my job as a lawyer
I’m a young lawyer (practicing for 3 years) and I absolutely hate it. My employer is supposed to provide health insurance but I still don’t have it even after being here since July. I don’t get any training other than a brief explanation of what type of court hearing I need to cover. I really don’t know what I’m doing and make it perfectly clear to him that I’m highly uncomfortable with certain types of hearings given my inexperience. I also think it’s totally unfair to the clients who are expecting a seasoned attorney who knows what they’re doing, but instead gets my dumb ass fumbling over my words while sounding nervous as fuck. The office is an absolute shit hole. I don’t even have a trash barrel in my office and had to bring my own supplies (paper clips, staples/stapler, etc). The outlet in my office stopped working the…
I was just informed that we have a mandatory in office day because our coworker is having a baby next month and my boss wants to organize a baby shower. I really love this coworker and shes a good friend in office. The team knows I have fertility issues, and the last baby shower I attended for my friend I had to leave early because I was getting in my head about my emotions. I really hate feeling that way and it makes me feel like a POS. I think it's so unprofessional and the fact that gifts are required is rediculous. I can't afford that on 19 an hour! I don't care how cheap it is, that money could buy a bag of rice or beans to live off of. Most of my coworkers are women who have rich husbands but my partner and I aren't rich. We're struggling…
