After returning to the office after mandatory remote work ended last year, I've noticed a weird pattern with my co-worker, who I share the same position with. She takes off many chance she gets, leaves early nearly daily and uses FMLA like vacation leave. I understand that she is preparing for retirement in the next few years, and moved further away from the office, putting a strain on her commute. Her goal is to come in early, and leave as soon as an opportunity presents. She's the person who comes in earlier than her shift, and Comps lunch to leave earlier, which I am unable to do. I have asked to work her earlier shift, during her many absences, but with little success. She has a husband with “Cronic Pain”, which does not prevent him from calling her 20 times a day to talk about something he saw on TV.…

What should I do in this situation ?
I was let go from my job last week. Today the HR guy who was a part of the firing texted my personal cell phone to ask me how I am doing and to list him as a referral should I ever need to. What would you do in this situation?
For context, this situation happened to my wife in the state of Idaho. She quit a job and then reapplied to the same job because she was desperate. They said to her “you're hired” at the end of the interview but when she was about an hour and a half into the first day of orientation, they said they can't hire anyone who has previously worked at (insert work place name here) and told her to leave. So, did that place of work violate any laws by leading my wife on into thinking she had a job there but then pulled the rug out from under her and not paying her for an hour of orientation?
They really will blame anything other than corporate greed… https://apnews.com/article/inflation-business-d3468f5d9f6105dadffe69f30e411aa4?utm_source=homepage&utm_medium=TopNews&utm_campaign=position_06
Disciplinary for 5 sickness absences
This is over a 12 month period BTW. So I have had 2 so far (went for my second this morning), first verbal and then I received a written. 2 for sickness bug (I work in a care home, one of the instances was a confirmed norovirus break out in the workplace). 1 for period cramp. And 2 for chest related issues (since I had covid that I caught AT work in April last year, my chest has never been the same). I was honest and told them I'd had boiler related issues and wasn't able to heat my house through the winter, causing mould in my house which I suspect was the issue and what caused me to have such a bad chest paired with how cold the conditions were. They emailed me the outcome letter and have stated that I am to have NO (literally none) more instances…
Bad News: The only place that accepts it is over 5 hours away from the office and the insurance only covers one visit a year. We had a meeting for this and they excepted us to cheer.
Yay I got promoted!
Turns out Global Manager pays $0 more than Regional Specialist, but comes with a lot more work. What a surprise
Just wondering for those with hybrid work arrangements (wfh and office), how much has wfh improved your overall satisfaction? I’m currently considering it and thinking of working from home on Wednesdays (by the time Wednesday rolls around I feel demotivated and would like the comfort of working from home) and Thursdays because I have to get to a class in the evening and it becomes such a long day. Let me know.
