That's just about what I expected from this sub. For being antiwork these mods sure are big fans of stifling any conversation about it. Don't challenge people's way of thinking and engaging or you won't be welcome. What are you hoping to accomplish by containing the conversation to what you deem acceptable parameters? Who gets to decide those parameters?
I am a 27f minority. I get teased and bullied every single work place I go. I get pushed out of work environments by mangers and employees. I’m told I’m too nice and get taken advantage of. Someone once told me. “you’ll get bullied at every single job you go.” And laughed. I’ve been doing Uber to get by. Sometimes I’ll have a rude and terrible pax and their drop off is at retail chain that I would be working at before Uber. So I would think to myself thank god I don’t work retail anymore. I’ve never worked a co op but I’m guessing it’s all the same shit. I’m just tired of people exploiting me. I just want to make money that’s all.
Marx talks a lot about the inevitable approach of this because of capitalism. Is it coming or not do you think? I’m not a communist but it seems like a reasonable conclusion from Marx. Edit: also, why is it illegal to be communist in this country? That doesn’t shout freedom to me
advice on asking for better pay
I'm about to go into an interview for a job with less responsibilities and higher pay. Also, potentially switching to a hybrid situation. If I get an offer from the new company, I want to come back to my current employer and see if they are willing to discuss wage. This will be my first time ever discussing a raise for a job. I really like my current company, but the wage isn't where I'd like to be. For reference, I currently am a team lead for a small customer service department and the new job would be a base level customer service agent. Does anyone have some tips on how to approach my current employer once I receive the offer? Thanks!
Do you want to buy some emeralds?
$19.23 – $19.71. Putting aside that it's too low, those numbers are strange.
I’m being laid off tomorrow.
I just passed my 3 month probation. Why didn't they just let me go earlier? This is a bigger headache for them. Maybe it was because I can collect EI? Just a bunch of bullshit.
I hate working for extreme Republicans.
Not only do they never pay enough, but they don't think you work hard enough. No communication, too much political talk in the work place and discrimination against immigrants regardless of legality. If you're under 35 you're automatically the problem with America.
