Other excuses I’ve been given: In June – “raises happen in November” In Nov – “raises happen in the new year” In Jan – “raises only happen in October so we’ll touch base then” Yes I am looking to leave (obv). Good luck to everyone in a similar position.

I see a lot of questions on this subreddit asking about employers questionable tactics. Thought her advice would be useful to some!
I am expecting to be dismissed from my current job soon but I don't wish to leap straight into the clutches of another call centre so I plan to take a month out of the workforce to mentally recuperate. In an ideal world “mental health break” would be an adequate justification for a resume gap but regrettably many recruiters and HR types might not accept this as a palatable explanation. Therefore I am trying to find a short online course that I can complete (or at least register for) that recruiters and HR types would find acceptable on a resume. Thank-you all for your help!
I received a job offer last Friday for a temporary/contract position. It’s through an agency out of state and the actual job is in my town. I start in about a week. I did the background check and drug test. Signed the contract. There are no issues because I got copies of the background check and drug test. I have been contacting the company with a few questions and they will not email me back or return a call. I stopped job hunting because of this offer. And today I see on Indeed they are “actively reviewing candidates today”. I have a sinking feeling that they are dicking me around. What can I do?
