At my old job I was stressed beyond belief. My health was tanking. I actually ended up with walking pneumonia and was STILL expected to come in. And I was a good girl who never missed a day of work. My BP was through the roof and I was so stressed my heart was actually having an arythymia. The doctor I saw was concerned I might be at risk of a heart attack and insisted on an ekg as my resting heartrate would go from normal to 130/140 for a few minutes and then back to normal. At the age of 29 with no underlying factors but the stress (weight okay, all blood tests okay.) I still worked. But then my pre-school aged, non-verbal autistic son caught the stomach flu. It was bad. I'm the only one who really understands his needs and can tell 'okay we'll stay home' or…
Over the past two decades I’ve seen the economy become more and more fragile.
Nothing more “Amazon” than that.

idk if i can post memes here
How many people are in the US? We’re facing everything from ridiculously low un-livable wages, inflation ($16 for a carton of eggs?!), being forced to pay monthly car/health/home/renters insurance on the off chance that you MAY need it at some point (but will also still have to pay BUTTLOADS more if you DO happen to need it), rental houses and apartments going up drastically every few months-year (who can pay $2,500/m for 3 beds?!), to being unable to buy a house because banks believe you can’t afford your own mortgage even though you’ve helped pay off at least 2-4 houses while renting. When are we going to do something? I saw someone talking about how they and their spouse make a combined 100k salary per year and are STILL living paycheck to paycheck and struggling to pay rent, insurance, groceries, etc. It’s shocking to realize it almost doesn’t matter how…
Does the Labor Movement Speak Meme?
Curious how many other people have been in this type of situation honestly.. also equally curious is it out of line to feel frustrated. I've worked for a company for 6 years and have been billing for them for 4 years. I'm young but have always been motivated and teachable. The type of billing we preform is unique and not at all something you can do a course for its strictly experience. I did complete high school and after that some college. We recently hired a lady about 10 years older than myself with no experience in this field. As for her education she's mentioned a ged and her work experience was mostly administrative assistance type of employment. She's nice and in training with us. She let it slip to me she's making the same amount of money as myself and that was her starting pay. My starting pay was…
Venting guilt over sick day
I took a sick day on Monday. I'm working two jobs, the primary of which is being a teacher. We can't find subs, period. A day off means my coworkers have to drop their plans to cover for me, and I genuinely like these people. My other job, though, is at a gas station. I can't take days off there or I'll be fired, and I need the money. At my teaching job I get a couple of sick days added to my total every month. So I took a sick day, because I haven't had more than two days (total) off from both jobs at the same time since the week before Thanksgiving. And I feel awful, cause that one sick day meant 2 of my coworkers had to throw out their plans for the day to cover. I lied and said I had a stomach bug, but the…
