Dreading work tomorrow…
like the title says. Social worker in training working with Social worker who happens to also be my friend of 10 years. I was off sick all last week. Food poisoning or a really bad stomach flu. I got so bad I did a Telehealth appointment last Thursday. Dr excused me till the 6th. Does that include tomorrow? Sorry for the shitty details lol.
Makes sense right.
I work at a fast food where I’m the only Asian employee. I have a slight but obvious enough accent because I only moved here to the US when I was 16. Whenever some customers demand things that are against the rules, they would absolutely fight me to the end. They would yell, scream, and give me death stares. They will not back down at all. For instance, it’s not allowed to take orders at the drive thru window, but some people will miss the speaker and demand that I take their order there. It doesn’t matter how clearly and politely I explain that I can’t, they will not back down. However, the moment my other coworkers explain it to them in the exact same wording that I do, they all of sudden (begrudgingly) behave. I’ve also received comments from my coworkers like “it’s that simple” after they deal with…
I think this is quite dangerous. For context, mechanics are paid per task not for hours present but the real problem aside from wasting my time is that if something happened and I needed help, the dealership is closed Sunday so nobody would find me until Monday. Service department closes at 4 on Saturday. New/used car sales closes at 6. The same two mechanics are picked to alternately stay until 6. Manager refuses to communicate what the purpose of having a tech after hours is for now that sales sends state inspections off-site. We think it’s just to pick on those 2 techs bc there’s 2 others with state license that are never scheduled. That whole side of the dealership shuts down at 4. Nobody walks through the garage and I have been locked in before via gates because nobody knew someone was still in service. About his text, The…
Joined this sub recently. Figured I’d share my story. Wish I still had the text messages and emails. I landed a pretty good job a few years back. Negotiated pay + benefits. Got what I wanted and was happy to start. A few weeks in and I realized that OT was mandatory. Not what I imagined. Wasn’t prepared for 60+ hour work weeks. Plus a 45-60 minute commute to and from depending on traffic. I really was not happy and missed my wife and daughter during the week. Labor intensive job; I’d get home and shower and eat dinner and pass out on the couch before going to bed because I was so beat and then wake up at 4am to start the day again and get out the door before anybody would wake up. Usually my daughter was getting ready for bedtime when I would get home or shortly…
