CEO delivered a big sermon about no room for personal life or personal priorities for work, then a month later, asked us to contribute 18 dollars for this birthday

This is more of a rant. I no longer work for that company, thank the Lord. But these pomps, self-righteous hardworking rich people are so full of shit. I still remember his words when he sat down with us and told us that there was never any room for personal life while working. He used to call us 6 days a week and furthermore emphasized the matter that if we are passionate about the job, we should be ready to forget our personal commitments. He religiously recited the tale of an engineer who had to rush for his child's emergency and got fired on the spot. A month later, HR tells us that CEO's birthday is coming up and all of us have to contribute 18 dollars. At that time, I had enough of CEO's shit and I no longer wanted to even work there. It was my last week.…

But it hit me. For these guys, even their birthdays are important. but for us employees, we cannot even tend to our family's emergencies? These are the same kind of people who give sermons about how hardworking and self-sacrificing they are.
