Change My Mind: We’re Nothing but Numbers

To employers, we are numbers that are only valuable when we are making them money (and even then, we aren’t valuable). As consumers, we are numbers that are only valuable as long as we keep devouring the products and services they sell. To the healthcare system, we are numbers who are only valuable while we are sick/dying and as a result, they have no incentive to cure the problem, only make and prolong it. To politicians, we are numbers only valuable to those we vote for to further their agenda. All of the above consistently claim to be on your side, but push comes to shove, you’re nothing but a number on a spreadsheet made by another number.
