Classified as part time while being scheduled for and working more 30+ hours a week

I have a friend working in Maryland. They’re working at a national grocery chain, paid hourly, but have been working 30+ hours a week for 2 months now, and their scheduled for more than 35 hours a week for the next month at least. However, the company has them classified as “part time”. They really want to be classified as “full time” as that comes with additional job benefits and potential for health insurance. Am I understanding the Affordable Care Act correctly in that anyone working 30+ hours a week should be full time? Does that apply here? If so, is this something to report to the labor department to get fixed or is that just a way to get the company in trouble with no real fix for my friend? End goal is to just get re-classified, so don’t want to risk them getting fired or hours lowered below…
