This might not be the right space, but this is bothering me and I wanted feedback. A man rang our doorbell, looking for a job. My employer told him we weren't hiring & shut the door. The man looked crushed, I imagine he had a lot of that today.
What bothers me is that there seems to be an attitude now about applying for work, in person. But this man was neat, tidy, polite…and brave. I believe taking the initiative he did speaks to his character.
I tried to find him to suggest a few places nearby that I knew were hiring, but no luck. I've thought about him since. I hope someone feels the same, gives him a chance.
But what is so wrong with knocking doors when you are desperate for work?
