I don’t understand how people and companies are still pushing the narrative of minimum wage rising is why everything else is spiking in cost.
That’s not how it works? Costa of food, gas, and housing has spiked regardless of minimum wage rising.
Oh the 50 cents you gave me last year made gas cost $6.00 a gallon? Made eggs rise in cost? Made supplies scarce? /s
I have a friend, let’s call her Sarah, who makes more than I do at our job. (She has worked here for 2 years, I’ve been here for one). She is struggling to pay her bills. She is a single mom. She is going to me for financial advice so she doesn’t get sent to collections or declare bankruptcy. She admits she is not into politics, has never voted, and agrees with me that If you don’t vote, you have zero say about the outcome. However she has made the complaint that because minimum wage has gone up, everything else went up.
I just got off the phone with a corporation I frequent for my waxing services. I just found out that they are no selling the wax passes at my location. I am able to budget this luxury regardless of the wax pass. However when I asked why, I was told it was because minimum wage went up.
I’m tired of hearing this as an excuse. How do I properly communicate that this narrative is wrong?
