This isn’t my main Reddit account, trying to stay as anon as I can…won’t name where I work but I’m sure it’s the exact same at every one…I work in accounting at a private Country Club. I love the job only because of the flexible hours (I can basically work whenever I want, whatever time of day which is amazing when my wife and I have 4 children) but I absolutely HATE working for rich people at their “playground”. Anyways, it makes me so fucking mad the amount of businesses I see that are writing monthly checks to cover the expenses for memberships here. You really mean to tell me these rich assholes can’t even afford their monthly Country Club statements? We’re talking thousands of dollars, monthly, along with a lot covering annual dues as well, amounting to around 12K a year (annual dues alone). It’s enough to cover a full time employees annual salary, probably multiple. And it pisses me off to hear about people’s companies not giving out annual bonuses or raises because they can’t afford it. Bullshit. You can afford to pay monthly charges and dues for the “higher ups” at their fancy club though. And I love it when these companies say “oh well it shouldn’t be about the money…” why the fuck not? I’m guessing you pay these large amounts monthly as a “perk” for the higher ups so that they don’t…oh idk jump ship for a competitor that WILL pay for it? So it’s about the money only if you make a lot, otherwise just be happy with what you have? Fuck that.
I would love to try and do something that would make a difference…I don’t know what that is. I thought about making an excel sheet with a list of companies, the check number and how much they paid, but in the long run what will that do? Open to ideas too. Eat the rich.
Sorry just felt like venting, I appreciate the flexibility in my work but that doesn’t mean I don’t have morals or values or don’t think this place royally sucks. Who the fuck can I send MY monthly statements to of all the “fun” activities I do? (Spoiler, with 4 kids I never do anything for me) yet these assholes constantly have their businesses foot the bill so they can have fun and dine and drink and play golf or whatever the fuck else they do since we all know they’re worthless and barely do any work.
