The company has decided nationwide they're giving workers that have been there more than 12mths a 4% wage (inflation has been up 8-9% the last year, so really thats nothing) increase.. IF they're not in the union. If in the union they won't be getting an increase as a way to intimidate said union.
Pretty disgusting, unsure on the legality of it as it discourages unionizing/being in a union, which an employer isn't allowed to do- so not sure how that one works..
